What I'm banking on is that the tanks hate will increase as well and that the less affinity the other classes have the less enmity that will be generated.
It still sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. I'll be trying alternative strategies before resorting to the new ability with enmity though. It just seems too risky.
You do what you need to do Miss. Millions, but I don't know where you're definitively getting that it specifically states there is no Sentinel this next patch. May I have that direct line to SE Headquarters or is that only exclusive to especially gifted Miqo'tes?
Its a self AoE..why the hell would EVERYONE be using it? I would bet a million gil that it won't stack with itself. So whether or not sentinel disappears...its function and/or demand disappears (because only a tank [which is the GLD] needs to get it..and well if they are doing ifrit...they are going to be level 50 and have it).
SO!
In a week Sentinel will be gone as it currently stands. And we'll be able to do stuff in this game without having to have Fake Difficulty.

With that said everyone including tank can pop glad 1 and then tank can pop glad 3 for even more defense on everyone and even more enmity on tank

Current Sentinel description:
Description of similar ability from that post I linked to above:Thwart enemy attacks with your weapon, reducing damage dealt to you.
See, they are not the same, Sentinel is going away.Temporarily reduces damage you sustain and increases enmity generated by actions executed while effect is active.
except current Sentinel Description is wrong, you do nothing with your weapon.I got it from here:

That's besides the point, it increases your defenses without increasing enmity now. That can't be said of the new ability, therefore they are not the same. Using that similar ability in the same way we use sentinel now, may not produce the same results. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that doing so will probably backfire.

Its all speculation I'm just saying if you are taking things at face value based on description then your example is flawed
you can also look at it this way, what does Sentinel do? it reduces damage taken, what does Sentinel 1.20 do? it reduces damage taken but also increases enmity IF you perform an action after it is used for the duration. For all we know it has the same duration as current sentinel which is low.

But I am not taking them at face value. Sentinel doesn't add hate, the new ability does. It's not hard to figure out that when mages have hate bad things happen.
