I remember when games were about PLAYING them, who cares if the gear is trash if the fights themselves are still fun?

They aren't. The harder the fights get, the less people who find them fun. That's why there really isn't a lot of people doing the harder endgames.

It's the game's achilles heel. You don't have to go in, watch a walkthrough video, then practice a stage in a video game over and over if its fun.
