Unrelated, a bank wont need a the same type of server to send data for a transaction, they just need (to put it simple) a key confirmation that goes from a to b then back to a and that's it.
Gaius van Baelsar: Nor is this unknown to your masters. Which prompts the question: what came first, the chicken or the egg?
If only stuff was so simple than a simple confirmation ... i suppose that you have always enough currency just in case ATM system is down ... yep some credit card need some check within your bank to allow you to do an operation.
And what i said is still valid, a bank doesn't need a constant online connection your credit card and flow different amount of data between the card and the bank when you have it on you or when you're using it to buy anything through cashier or online. It literally is just a code that it send to the bank to confirm that you valid the payment and the only check the bank does is if you have the fund or can go in the negative for the month.
The system needed is way lighter and require less power, it's not 'simpler' it still have to do that sort of computing multiple time through the day to multiple location but the system remain just a short back and forth.
EDIT: Update
We are continually working to fix the issue, but as there are multiple affected areas, we are unable to provide the recovery time.
We will keep you updated and inform you as soon as there are any changes. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

So... I am guessing Chaos Server / EU Data Centre is going to be out of commission for the rest of the day, if not up until and possibly through the weekend at this stage...
Welp, there goes my Eureka grind plans. XD
There should be some kind of compensation to this "Chaos"
I took a day off work to level and now ended up refreshing forums!!
i hope they extend the duration of the event when the downtime is more than 1 day.
That you took the day off is not something they can take responsibility for.
In general, very very few MMO providers will give any kind of compensation for unplanned outages unless they last for 24 hours or more. And even then there is no guarantee.
