I get the concept of "we don't want to release gear at the same time as other gear that it will make obsolete" but that can be fixed, change what gear you're offering from where.

Beyond that, stop dictating what I get to play and when.

I hear a lot of "but I have other things to do and I might not be able to do all of the new content immediately and I don't want other people to do it if I can't" and I just. Pick and choose. You want to do one thing, not another? Do that one thing. But don't advocate taking content away from other players just because you're not ready for it.
