You realize the devs can easily monitor how long people are spending on Ultimate through the game itself so they dont need to listen to rumors.

If I had to guess the participation was even lower then they expected and its already extremely niche content and beside maybe a couple of days of interest through streamers this content is completely irrelevant to over 99% of the population and once the hardcore raiders get through the fight in a couple of weeks the content basically becomes dead.

Also even though it reuses assets I imagine it basically requires the full time of one of their better battle designs to properly tune and balance the encounter.

I just hope with the elimination of Ultimate they can do something special leading into the next expansion as 3.55 was kind of a lame lead in to an expansion.

Still does not change the fact that the world first group did not raid for 21 hours per day and that it was a rumor. Yoshida stated that raiding so many hours is not good thus they seemingly heard the rumor and not numbers. (Or somehow the world first group lied and did so many hours which I cant believe)

It's not even sure they really did that 21 hourse, Zeppe worded it as he wanted them to do that not that they really did that, besides this was never a problem before I don't get why it should be such a LE GASP! moment now

That's not for the devs to decide how much time players spend on a game. Sure, that's not healthy but so what? They are adults, not children. Let them do what they want. And that's only if the rumor was true to begin with.

What's the next step? "We will release the next extension but you can only play for one hour before the server kicks you out. We don't want you too spent to much time online.".



No, that's just an excuse they're making to reduce yet again the content released, much like that absurd content spreading for 4.3. And the "people asked for it" is most certainly a lie. I never saw anyone complaining about the Ultimate mode, even for those participating.

This decision to cancel it was probably made months ago though so its kind of irrelevant regardless, also I think they said they do look through the logs of world first to see how progress is going on the fight and make sure no bugs/cheats are being used, so they likely know exactly how long they put into clearing the fight.
