The thing you have to remember is that your experience is not universal. Anxiety in particular is a beast with many heads, and it affects people differently, to varying degrees. I'm glad you've developed a better understanding of your own anxiety and have found a method that helps you cope, but generalising and making blanket statements from it is not only potentially hurtful to those who suffer with it, but promotes misunderstandings and attitudes like those shown in this thread that trivialise mental health issues or paints them as a self-inflicted result of being selfish or negative. In actuality, anxiety is a recognised disorder that can affect anyone, and depending on the severity can be incredibly debilitating and distressing to live with. To imply it's something people always have control over is wildly inaccurate.
