    Couldn't have said it better myself. It does somewhat feel like a slap to the face to me any time people try to use "Balance" as an excuse for why Tanks and Healers should never get any new jobs. "Perfect Balance", quite frankly, is a myth, IMO. It doesn't exist, and it never has.

    If the developers decide that Tanks and Healers shouldn't be getting any new roles again for yet another few years via the release of the next expansion, I'm going to be very upset. Tank and Healer mains have already been forced to wait several more years due to Stormblood only releasing two DPS jobs. If I was in charge of how to release jobs in this game, and it was already agreed upon that there would only be two new jobs per expansion, I'd set it up as follows:

    Odd Numbered Expansions: 1 Tank and Healer respectively.
    Even Numbered Expansions: 2 DPS.

    That's not taking the whole "What job would arguably fit as a Tank or Healer instead of a DPS?" thing into account either.

    Thus, I absolutely hope that the next two jobs are a Tank and a Healer. I'm going to be miffed if I see another DPS job in the coming expansion. Because as someone who far more often plays as the Tank and Healer jobs over the DPS jobs, I too would like new toys to play with in my usual go to roles.

    Now mind you, I just said I'd be upset if we don't get any new Tank and Healer jobs in the next expansion. I'll still be playing the game regardless.

    I honestly wouldn't mind if they didn't add a new tank in. I'm not going to speak about healer as I only play them to hit them to cap and never touch them again, but without a major shift in design of raid encounters, we already have enough tanks that at their core, tank the same way. Pop CD, receive benefit, ride dps stance as much as possible. They just need to be way faster at balancing changes on the current tanks and not wait 2 entire patches when there's major issues with one of them.

    I'd rather quality over quantity, but Square really needs to work on the quality part.

    I agree, I'm completely fine with the tank and healer roles we have now. Speaking as a healer main I'm also worried on the flip side of things of dps players that will never be interested in playing tank and healer roles. I'm worried if they release a new tank and healer they would be grossly buffed in an attempt to coerce current healer and tank players to try them out and creating another meta of "you need to play x tank and y healer for this content type" and all the joyful balance and re-balancing issues that would sure to follow later

    im all for adding a new Tank and healer
    i was one of those who wanted to try tanking with Dark knight and learned to love them all
    but when making a new tank you do want it to appeal to another group Warrior,Paladin and Dark knight cover a lot of ground theme and personality wise like Templar its cool and id love some bucket helms in this game
    but that general Audience most likely are playing paladin
    like with HW most people who played DRK and AST where already playing healers and tanks a very small number actually changed to play them

    I think you're right about this, and I think the same could be said about RDM/SAM. I was playing WHM before AST came out but I was so bored of it. When AST came out, I switched faster than I could even breathe (I know, insane). There were a lot of people who tried AST and DRK, I think, but most (not all) who weren't already healing/tanking didn't commit.


    However, I did get into tanking as a non-tank (ever) player with DRK. I hate healing Dark Knights, too, so it's kinda funny... But I loved that 30/50 storyline so much that I just had to.(But now the story sucks 60+ so far and I'm not confident in tanking non-dungeons, so I'm struggling with motivation. XD)

    I'd be cool if they rotated between 1tank/1healer/1dps for one expansion and then 2dps the next, but if they are dead set on not doing more than two jobs and expansion they can't be both dps. Hell even if u need that dps in release it like mid expansion or something just to get ur new dps quota in. The tank and healer communities need new jobs to play even if they end up doing the same thing (tanks tank healers heal) it would still be fun to learn a new tanking/healing job and spice it up a little.
