Unfavourable opinion, but I kind of like them having different hempen shirts/etc., because it shows their culture like their original get-ups?

A tank top and and a pair of boxer briefs isn't exactly a cultural icon.

More to the point, Eorzea is a pretty mixed. Races aren't particularly culturally distinct anymore except for a few remaining tribal elements such as Seeker of the Sun tribes. Nanamo isn't a Lalafel, she's an Ul'Dahn. Rauban isn't a Highlander, he's an Ala Mhigan. M'zhet isn't a Miqo'te, he's an absolute mess of a person. Repeat ad nausea. I see very little reason that this type of clothing isn't already spread among the populace already.

Well you may see very little reason but there are many of us who think diversity and racial differences are a good thing and it appears the development team understands there are two camps on this issue pro and against.

But what you want doesn't make sense with the world as it's presented.

I see very little reason because said diversity doesn't make any sense. If an Au Ra man wanted to get a pair of boxer briefs to keep his ridiculously thick thighs from chafing, he isn't going to be refused service. Not to mention these don't even come from racial related vendors. You just pick them up in every city state from a Midlander. Highlighting racial differences doesn't make sense because everyone in the same location is under the same culture regardless of how tall they are or what animal parts are attached to their bums. The Gold Saucer outfits are infinitely more culturally significant than any of the current race lock geared.

This is more of an aside to my original point, but if SE were to come out with a new outfit next patch that only fit catgirls, I think you would find very, very, very few people praising SE for increasing diversity. In no dictionary does limiting choice increase diversity. That is literally the opposite of diversity.

Your example is that of unequal numbers of glamour sets. But if SE made one glamour outfit for catgirls and one for every race and gender combination, that would be the most diverse glamour a patch has ever had. Giving everyone their own version instead of one shared version increases diversity.

Okay in terms of female characters, what's more diverse and a bigger addition:

    A. Every race gets a set that's locked to just it's race.
a)Each race is able to wear 5 new pieces of glamour for to wear. Cannot mix.

    Or

    B. Every race gets a set and every race can wear each set.
(b). Each race is able to wear 35 pieces of glamour to wear. Can mix between 35 pieces.

Seems simple enough to me what's better.

Look at cultural armor from GW2, those sets have good reason to be race locked as they have a lot of meaning design wise to their races, not only that but with more unique body shapes it makes sense that GW would have more trouble than FF fitting sets to other bodies. and further more there's still armor based around those races available freely to all races via dungeon armor.

There's nothing wrong with wanting diversity in racial armor sets, but locking casual culturally insignificant clothing/underwear behind races is just dumb. There's a reason people don't complain about GC/hunt armors being locked to certain GCs (Besides being able to freely switch between them so it's not much of an issue to use them) .They also hold a lot of significance to the faction itself design and color wise. Not race locked but it's a fairly good example of how to build diversity in armor without sacrificing generic casual pieces of clothing.

It's easy for a lot of people to disregard and even think people who want to keep the hempen and camise sets locked are wrong because a lot of you want to keep them not for cultural importance (which they lack) but instead just because they're the last few bits of glamour race locked.

The only sets that seem even slightly culturally important to races are the starter sets, but even those have problems because it looks like the same tailor made all of them, and again they're filled with fairly casually looking clothing bits, for example: Miqo skirt, it's a personal favorite but I prefer playing Highlander's/Roegadyn's.

I for one enjoy diversity as well, but I also heavily care about how it's implemented. and SE's implementing of it here was not out of care or intent it was just a product of it's time when they didn't care about glamour and just wanted to get the game out.

Just my two cents. I think the game is better off unlocking the hempen and starter sets and instead give us better culturally important armor

What are you talking about? Racial armor in guild wars 2 is NOT racially locked.

They're talking about the cultural armor, which is race locked.
