Two things.

Firstly, it's incredibly unlikely you'll hit 20k in NPC sales unless you're aiming to maximize your progress. I'd be stunned if you hit 10k during the normal course of play, unless you're doing something that regularly awards Clear Demimateria. Nothing else sells for enough that doesn't bring in far more money via the AH.

I hit the 20k cap in about 5 mins selling Allagan pieces from my retainer, plus some random low level materia I had. In fact, I could cap far more than 20k every single week purely from the retainers Allagan pieces, which is zero effort on my part.

As for your point about reward, it doesn't matter if it's 3000 Gil, or 300,000 Gil, I am incentivised to sell my items at the enclave because they pay a higher amount. In fact, increasing the gratuity would increase the reward, whereas your idea of decreasing it would decrease the reward.

Seven days isn't enough time to gather things to sell for 20k gil? Are you honestly saying you would struggle to sell an average of just under 3k gil worth of stuff to a vendor every day?

I think your missing the made to be sold items completely, the limit is very low.
desynth some stuff and stock up the clear demimataria, send retainers on the 1 day ventures that bring back coins, spend like 20 minutes in eureka, etc etc

I'll admit I forgot about Retainer Ventures. I typically do Quick Ventures; you're right, the Allagan pieces would make this somewhat feasible, albeit again, as I said, at substantial cost: Quick Ventures bring in far more Gil, because they routinely bring back valuable items for the MB (this is likely the route I'll take). Desynthing is possible; I'm curious, do you know of a particularly easy source for them? Desynths don't tend to give them very reliably, and for the tier II or III demimateria, the items required don't have trivial ingredient requirements. Considering one would need to desynth significant quantities of them, this is pretty burdensome.

Yes. What activities do you do that net more than this? I'm honestly curious if there are any, beyond Eureka. The vast majority of items either don't sell for more than peanuts to Vendors, or sell for far more on the Market Board.

Please consider this from a non-Eureka point of view, for the sake of argument. I realize Eureka might be the only efficient route here. Are people honestly finding it easy and inexpensive to accomplish 20k in Vendor sales in a week?

Can't say I have had reason to count the gil I get from vendoring items until now. I can tell you though I easily reached 20k within a day just from retainer quick exploration ventures. I wasn't even trying to do it fast, it just happened. If you have gatherer retainers, high level crafting and high level desynth on crafters, it would be stupidly easy.

If you do the high floors of POTD you'll easily hit the weekly cap from selling the weapons from the accursed hoard sacks.

EDIT: just now my two retainers brought back gear that sells for over 1k gil to vendors. No effort on my part at all.

perhaps for people that are solely concerned with maximizing persona profit over all else 'donations' is not an activity they should consider

I feel like this is something that will be much easier to just let happen over time, rather than actively trying to obtain items to sell.

I just sold off the excess materia and other stuff i got out of eureka lockboxes

just handiing in random lv5 materia I got from 2 EX rouletes before patch & some low (like 5-10gil) extra gather mats got me to 5k/20k, its honestly not that hard I think I mean lv5 materia I just sell to NPC vendors anyway since its droping like rain these days (any lv6, non-DET/Direct Hit/CRT/VIT, thou I keep just to materia mash them in Thanalan for lols to see if he gives me lv6 crafter stuff for MB sale or gifts to crafters I know)

I just spent Centurio seals on some Ala Mhigan accessories and belts and sold those. They sell for around 1k a piece, and I have no need to trade those in for GC Seals, so why not? Or, similarly, run your daily dungeon roulettes, greed on the drops, and sell those.

34 allagan silver pieces from 18 hour ventures would normally NPC for 17k gil, I got 20k for them from donations. Just get some at the MB and you can probably at least break even.
