Heck, even now I still feel like rogadyns are suppose to be Galka reincarnating minorities from playing FFXI. For FFXIV I don't even know how to view them, I don't have a sense of their culture yet, and with the female rogadyns being added in it just feels even more awkward.

I shouldn't need to explain this, but humans are used repeatedly throughout a lot of fantasy games, movies, and books, because it's a race we're suppose to be able to identify with. The human character a medium that has been used countless in fictional tales. Thus experiencing a new human culture in fictional work is deemed acceptable.

However, if you were to pull out a distinct fictional race from a series, like the Viera from Ivalice series, then we can only view them as one type of culture, that being the Viera we know in Ivalice. Yes, you can try to re-write their culture like how they are with the races of FFXIV, but it's difficult to forget what they used to be in a previous game.
It's not that they lack originality is the point, not that's it's human (IX isn't a human).
but repeating races is an off the wall complaint, seeing as most games repeat them.

Don't think star wars fans are bitching about this, and they have more games with the races, playable or not.
