Good thing I spammed LotA for a couple or so days straight to get the glamour gear I wanted from there. Thanks for making new gear pure hell to obtain, SE. Really. Thanks. :\
To me it feels like they are intentionally making it more difficult to acquire the gear from the new alliance, to try to force more runs out of the average player which would artificially pad the numbers of how many times the content is cleared all so they can turn around and call the new alliance raid "a success!".

Myself and quite a few of my friends have really been enjoying Eureka and were very disappointed when we found out that there won't be any relic armor upgrades for the 4.3 patch cycle. Know that there are many people that hate Eureka and are very vocal about it, but was nice to have another alternative to acquiring gear that was relevant and wasn't locked behind a weekly lockout. Now it'll be back to the same old grind of speed running duties, or try my RNG and hope I get gear I want from a raid.

Bonus points for glam plates not being allowed outside of cities and other non instance places. Let's just destroy the glam endgame why don't we.

This (along with the fact it used to just flat out eat your gear with no way to retrieve, though they'll finally fix that) is why I stick to using prisms. I have retainers that can level off of bringing back hundreds of items used for their making, anyway. A lot easier on me in the long run.

I fiiinally tried the glamour dresser last night, as I figured with the change, I can soon retrieve my items if I hate it. Perhaps this is my own fault for not reading up on it, but I thought one of the perks of this was that you could finally have a separate glamour for jobs that share gear. Like I thought I could have one outfit, glamoured with normal prisms, and then make a separate plate for the 2nd job. Turns out you can't I really don't feel like using up 3/10 of the available plates just to make my DoL jobs look different. So yeah, i'm a bit disappointed with the system and will stick with prisms I think.

I think you seriously misunderstand how the glamour plates work if you think that "stick with prisms" is any particular benefit over the plates.

Think of them as a way of doing multiple glamour prisms at once. You can make a plate for another job, just need to apply it. No different than if you were using regular prisms and needed to glamour different pieces for different jobs.

If you think of them as just an express way of doing multiple prisms at once (that can only be done in cities), it makes a lot more sense as to why there's no downside to it over prisms. They're not 2 separate systems, they're the same glamour system, just 2 different ways of using "cast glamour".

And because they're the same system, you can mix them. You can do some glamours with prisms and then do other glamours with plates, you can overwrite glamours from plates with prisms, and vice versa. The glamour system itself does not change, just how you cast it (and how many glamour prism items are needed to do it).

I could very well just need to get used to the system. While in town, I like to switch up a few outfits for fun, and I definitely don't have enough plates for all of those outfits. So I suppose I need to figure out which I want to use as proper gear sets vs. fluff items to keep on hand.

Also, removing the plate glamour is annoying at the moment, but it sounds like they're addressing that with the patch.

The thread against it has over 222 likes. People are mostly against it, at least on the forum, so why even try it out if you notice that maybe its not that liked? Forums may not be the majority but I do believe that they can show a directions things can go. If they never plan to change anything before it gets live why even ask us for feedback or tell us about this before it happens?

I have a hard time believing that they would change it afterwards if they dont already listen to our feedback beforehand..maybe only if the Japenese forum explodes about it..

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

This will be possible in 4.3 when you can link glamour plates to gear sets.
Only thing needed would be as much platees as possible gear sets...

The thing is, supposedly, the Japanese players asked for this change in the first place. Something about they want to gear their jobs they don't want to take into raid/the job is too low in ilevel to enter and they can't get gear because the people that are actually playing as that job in the raid are needing on gear those people want. Be it seals, glamour, or heaven forbid overriding little Timmy's Greed with Need on the piece because you actually do need it as an upgrade, SE decided that everyone gets screwed to solve it.

And you forgot BLM, which to me shows all the more you're talking about a raid environment which despite a lot of buzz on the forums is still run by a minority of the playerbase.

And besides, the recast speed is the same.
Oh. Derp. Yeah I missed that part. I guess it never really mattered to me since I didn't feel the clipping so many people complained about, maybe due to latency (shrug).
