Be it seals, glamour, or heaven forbid overriding little Timmy's Greed with Need on the piece because you actually do need it as an upgrade, SE decided that everyone gets screwed to solve it.
As Luin pointed out even the japanese players seems to find this change a bit strange and we should not forget that their playerbase is the minority and even those could have enough people that are hurt by this change. (Also if they dont want to even go into 24 man raids with secondary jobs, why do they even need gear for them? If they dont run normal content with those jobs, would they truly run raids with it?)

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Well i350-370 24man in Rabanastre could skip Mateus's toads pretty handily, I've seen it done cleanly a few times, I have no idea how fast you can wreck stuff with i370 when everybody's on point. More gear you're going to do more damage, having faster and smoother runs. I understand that, but the players that need these 24mans for what they were intended, to catchup in ilvl and supplement you while gearing with tomes, aren't the players that want to, or have the time, to dedicate multiple 30-50 minute runs, and will hate not having the guarantee they'll get that loot if it *even drops*. So an average player is going to login, and half of their time is going to be spent in this one instance for that day, and even if the loot drops, you have to win it.

It should have a token system. You can win loot outright, but regardless, at the end of the run, you should get a Gear Token to trade for any 1 piece of gear from that raid, and lock it weekly. So you have x/2 loot, the chest loot, cluster+upgrade+gear tokens. So you're still incentivizing players to run it multiple times for the chest, but nobody is ever going to walk away after 20 hours in a week with nothing.

This is another heavyhanded, player hostile method to increase 24man "popularity".

As for me, I'll be part of the problem. I'll run it once a week (maybe some more at launch), and I'm going to roll on everything regardless.

My thoughts on the notes as a whole is pretty positive. I'm really happy that normal mode raids have finally been placed into a roulette. Coils will still have to be handled the same way. But hey! They're the coils and a fair bit special.

A guest book for housing is something I've been wanting ever since I got into decorating. I can finally leave nice messages for all the gorgeous homes I see, and hopefully, maybe I'll get one or two sent my way as well!

I play DRK and was really interested in the adjustments. I will go into detail about those in the tank forums, but for the most part I am happy, but not having done any 4.x content yet, I really don't know what I'm missing. However, these adjustments still improve DRK playability prior to getting to max level.

My biggest gripe is the change to Greed only in alliance roulette. What's the intention behind this? To help players get the loot they want, or make it harder? To make things fair? What is it in response to? Does it have to do with the overwhelming amount of gripes about those rolling Need when they really don't need it?

To be fair, the only time I ever roll Need is if I am specifically after that particular item. Like I literally queued just for that, and if it drops, I am going to roll Need before you can say the word. So despite the fact that I'm usually rolling Greed anyway, I still end up with a fair share of items that belong to other roles and classes that I am queued up as. I feel this is bad for the tanking community because we have so few tanks as it is. A tank can queue into an alliance now knowing that if something drops that is specific to tanking, he/she will have no competition for it. They now have less incentive to queue for them. Luckily they only need three. Bad call on that one SE.

Here's hoping 4.4 we'll see some RDM adjustments.

Sigh. I knew I should have put in hearsay. I don't go to the Japanese forums and toss every page into Google translate. Someone else said it and I didn't care to question it because all that mattered to me was that SE was taking Need away for whatever dumb reason. I wasn't placing blame on anyone, hence the supposedly, and waiting for someone to come up and say otherwise without getting mad at me in the process, which I guess you are with the way your reply looks. I'll just drop it. No one's at fault and SE is pulling stupid stunts yet again. ._.

I'm curious about whether or not the new DoH/L stuff is going to be gated by an item purchased with currency from the Namazu dailies similar to the Ironworks gear.

Not that I'd have a problem with it, since it just makes it harder for the bots to exploit the market with an unfarmable resource involved.

Glass fibers could be obtained from desynth and Aquapolis. Before that, it was the Ehcatl Sealants that could only be gotten from Ixali dailies. I'm not sure they will lock the mats to a beast tribe only ever again because it makes people complain they are "forced" to do them over other beast tribe dailies.

Glass fibers came from Moogle currency too.

I know. The point is that glass fibers were totally "farmable", and were not only restricted to the beast tribe. Glass fiber prices crashed fast because they could be farmed by desynthing DoL/H blue scrip gear. I'm sure even bots farmed them.

I wasn't aware that those were obtainable from desynthing. But yeah, if it's farmable to any extent and profitable the bots will be all over it.

I'm hoping they don't make desynthing an option for getting the stuff, because I'm kind of sick of Cactaur's economy being largely run by bot farmers. Granted, they'll still have some control over the market because of their excessive wealth allowing them to buy out any potentially unfarmable mats that people put up for sale, but it still won't be as bad as it currently is with DoM/W gear and food/infusions.
