I specifically said tracking. I used Shonisaurus as an example because it was a 4-5 mooch and I was going after Mahar. 4.8% uptime isn't that great and waiting on weather. I also caught all 5 other fish in the past 48 hours. GarlandTools is just a mess to navigate on mobile. The link I posted is specifically for tracking big fish. I use it in conjunction with FFXIV Angler. I am not looking to sort by region. I am looking for what is up, what is coming up, and what bait I need. It has yet to lead me down. It took me 9 windows to get Namitaro with 5 of those windows not even catching a Great Takitaro. There is a reason they call it fishing. If it was easy it would be called catching.

Some of the fish requirements are ridiculous(a few of the fish have weather patterns that only pop once or twice a month for a few minutes, and good luck being able to log in and fish at that exact time if you dont have a job where you can play at work/make your own hours).
What weather requirements pop only once or twice a month? I would really like to know. Also I don't get to set my hours, or play from work. I have a 8-5 m-f job so that doesn't really apply to me. Again it takes time and RNG is part of the game. Just learn to pray more. It's been this way from day 1 and continues to this day.

I still firmly believe that fishing is fine the way it is. I landed 17 big fish this weekend with primarily focusing on the Living Legends. It was a great time to catch up on anime.

And I never said I was using ffxivangler for tracking. I use http://www.garlandtools.org/ffxivfisher/ for that.

Which only proves the point that some of the weather requirements are beyond silly. That said, Shonisaurus was a lot more annoying before the addition of Patience I/II.

Congrats, good luck getting the other 150+ big fish.

Since I play XIV on PC, I just have it open on my second monitor.

Then what was the point of suggesting it as a better tracking alternative to ffxivangler, when neither of us were using it to track big fish?

Personal preference, and garlandtools also shows what's up,what's coming up, and what bait you'll need.

Please come back once you've caught fish like the Green Jester, or The Assassin, or any of the other big fish that end up getting away 9 out of 10 times.

And I believe that some of the big fish (not all of them) could use a nerf.

I never stated you did. I made a general statement about what i use for tracking. i quoted you because I think you need to get the sand out about how rare things are. If you actually had Patience then you would realize that this doesn't need a nerf. I personally enjoy the way it is because I don't mind camping a spot for 20-40 minutes. I will also get back to you on Green Jester and The Assassin. I have caught plenty of big fish that got away 9 out of 10 times. But it is the name of the game.

Joke's on you, I got my "Of Dragons Deep" title during ARR, before the addition of Patience I/II/Mooch II. I'm also at 109/156 towards Go Big or Go Home XIII, with nearly all of them from ARR areas, but I'm taking a break from big fishing, since I feel like my time is better spent doing other things.

The Green Jester has a 9 min fishing window, The Assassin has a 6 minute fishing window. For the record, the former got away 26 times before I finally caught it, the latter took 15 fishing windows to even take a bite (and I was lucky enough that it didn't get away). It's fish like these, along with some of ones with rare weather requirements, that should be looked at, most of the other ones are fine.

    /slowclap.

I fished up my Supra rod in 2.5 since I didn't start fishing until 2.5 and then never went back for any big fish since HW came out. I am now going back for big fish and doing all the zones because I feel the opposite. There is nothing too exciting to do in game and this is one thing I am trying to keep my interest. I am 49/150 with 30 of those being in the past 2 weeks. I am only working on ARR fish at the moment.

Fingers has a 3 minute window. I feel the pain but still don't think it should be nerfed. The Matriarch bit 15 times last night in a 1 hour window and still don't think it should be nerfed. I am actually enjoying it as I am seriously getting caught up on anime I have been meaning to. On PS4 I don't really have to pay attention to the screen since the controller vibration tells me which bite it is and only need to glance to make sure it was moochable.

And I still think that it, along with Vip Viper's 3 minute window, is ridiculously short.

But we'll just have to agree to disagree, since you're fine with big fishing because you're hardly paying attention to it in the first place.

You are acting like I should be impressed. I am not surprised at all. A lot of people have done it. Bravo you did it during ARR, want a cookie? (hence the slowclap)

I was impressed by the people who had all the big fish during ARR. Since it is less impressive. Patience nerfed big fishing in difficulty already and you want it to be more.

You're complaining about a fish you have to catch once..... There is no reason to go back for Vip after you have caught him. Those 150 fish are an achievement and they should be difficult to catch. Fishing I have paid attention to since way before Supra even released. Big fishing was never a desire for me for awhile as I was pursuing other things. Neither is going after timed nodes. There is a lot in this game that is just busy work and which is also why I don't mind the hard to catch fish. Thankfully this is one aspect of the game that still provides a challenge.
