ARR/Heavensward Fishing RNG could use a nerf.

Joke's on you, I got my "Of Dragons Deep" title during ARR, before the addition of Patience I/II/Mooch II. I'm also at 109/156 towards Go Big or Go Home XIII, with nearly all of them from ARR areas, but I'm taking a break from big fishing, since I feel like my time is better spent doing other things.

I fished up my Supra rod in 2.5 since I didn't start fishing until 2.5 and then never went back for any big fish since HW came out. I am now going back for big fish and doing all the zones because I feel the opposite. There is nothing too exciting to do in game and this is one thing I am trying to keep my interest. I am 49/150 with 30 of those being in the past 2 weeks. I am only working on ARR fish at the moment.

The Green Jester has a 9 min fishing window, The Assassin has a 6 minute fishing window. For the record, the former got away 26 times before I finally caught it, the latter took 15 fishing windows to even take a bite (and I was lucky enough that it didn't get away). It's fish like these, along with some of ones with rare weather requirements, that should be looked at, most of the other ones are fine.

Fingers has a 3 minute window. I feel the pain but still don't think it should be nerfed. The Matriarch bit 15 times last night in a 1 hour window and still don't think it should be nerfed. I am actually enjoying it as I am seriously getting caught up on anime I have been meaning to. On PS4 I don't really have to pay attention to the screen since the controller vibration tells me which bite it is and only need to glance to make sure it was moochable.

Don't act surprised that your play on words got thrown right back at you. I wouldn't have caught this many big fish if I didn't have (lowercase) patience.

You are acting like I should be impressed. I am not surprised at all. A lot of people have done it. Bravo you did it during ARR, want a cookie? (hence the slowclap)

You're complaining about a fish you have to catch once..... There is no reason to go back for Vip after you have caught him. Those 150 fish are an achievement and they should be difficult to catch. Fishing I have paid attention to since way before Supra even released. Big fishing was never a desire for me for awhile as I was pursuing other things. Neither is going after timed nodes. There is a lot in this game that is just busy work and which is also why I don't mind the hard to catch fish. Thankfully this is one aspect of the game that still provides a challenge.

Read my posts. I'm specifically talking about big fish that have ridiculously rare weather requirements, ones that have short windows (Fingers/Vip Viper), as well as a few that seem to get away way more often than necessary. I even stated that most of the big fish are fine as is. Something along the lines of breaking of weather pattern requirements (weather -> weather), increasing some of the short windows by 1-2 Eorzean hours, maybe even have Veteran Trade for the next x casts.

There's nothing difficult or challenging about sitting at a fishing spot and rolling the dice on if you'll get lucky enough for the right fish to bite, and to not get away.
It's a time-consuming activity, one that's hardly rewarding once you get past the 106 big fish mark (and honestly, the Ironworks Fishing Rod is kinda bland, too). Not saying that should add some kind of big reward, but another fishing related title, or a cool glamour fishing rod would be nice.

The paying attention thing was me poking fun at the fact that you're just watching anime while you're waiting for your controller to vibrate.
Also, if we're comparing how long each of us has been fishing, I went after the Titanic Sawfish when that was the only 'big' fish, before any hints of big fishing becoming a thing.

I did the same. Took me months.

I agree that a new reward would be nice. Nepto Dragon mount would be sweet for catching all X number of big fish. But if they add new rewards keeping it the way it is would make it more rewarding for those who invest the time. I would disagree that fishing isn't difficult. Difficult definition being (needing much effort or skill to accomplish, deal with, or understand). You said that it is a time-consuming activity which is thus requiring "much effort" as per the definition.

The only thing I wish they would change about big fishing is showing you what the fish looks like beyond the icon. The best part about completing Feast of Famine for me was the video where I was able to see Nepto on the boat (titles aren't really a reward for me). I believe this would be a small reward for catching big fish.
