I wanted to ask about this, but was the region lock items originally free for the other servers or did they have to buy them too? Because I know there's several other outfits we may never see the light of day which it's still just as upsetting. Do we even have unique outfits for our region?

I agree it's too high for many of those items. They could have the choice of selling more items for less, or selling less for more...
I suppose SE prefers the cash wales to the majority of players. :/

Steam vs mobile game sales. It's quite funny to watch these typical price gouging microtransactions that barely cover cost while Steam exists.

10k sales of overpriced mogstation junk at $18 = $180k
300k sales of the same item at $2 = $600k

We don’t because FFXIV 14 is not subsripition in both Korea and China.

They have different business model and different player ecosystem and design is done by Korea and China.

I'll probably buy the mount. I'm fascinated with other cultures' lore. I'm not going to say that cash shop items are good or bad. I'm indifferent to it. Everyone has a line they won't cross. If the value I'm getting from the item I buy (happiness, because it looks awesome) is worth $24 bucks to me, I'll grab it. If not, I'll give it a pass.

I agree $100 however if SE wasn't making money they wouldn't set the price that high. in eureka today I came across 5 people with the mount. So that's $125, I can't see that mount costing SE more then say $1000 to do.
So do they take 41 people to pay it off or 500
I think they know what they are doing for optional items.

They is only a small group of whales. And SE knows this and they milk them.

lets say there is 300k active players, VS the numbers SE gives.
If 1% are whales that's 72k that they will make.

if 10% got it at $2 they only make 60k

If it is not a regional exclusive item then you are right, but regional exclusive item is a different ball game.
It involves the licensing and contractor fees with their Chinese and Korean contractors.

We aren't saying make the mount $2. Note as well the mount is account wide, so it'd be expected to be higher in price.

The OUTFIT on the other hand costs only $6 less, and is for 1 character. That's where people are getting iffy. What people are saying is either make the price lower, since honestly an outfit for 1 character shouldn't cost more than 1 month of sub, or make it account wide, so all the characters get to see it.

Easily, they could have had two versions. $9 for a single character, $18 for account wide, and the sales would arguably be higher. Anyone who had an alt would be more likely to buy the $18 one where they might not have in the first place at single character limits.

If I'm going to be paying 50 bucks a month for my MMO I might start considering other games, lol.

I liked FFXIV, because it was relatively cheap being all contained in the 15 dollar sub fee. But with the new app, and retainers, and mog station items every other week. I might as well just redefine my MMO budget to 50 bucks a month, but then I'll check out other F2P games. They might be bearable if I was dropping 3 times a sub fee per month.
