I don't think it would be unreasonable to have some kind of vague zone-wide announcement when a S rank spawns, like "You sense a dreadful presence.".

They also ought to make the hunter-scholar in each zone mention whether a hunt is still on respawn or if its spawn window is open when you ask them about the hunt in question

Maybe they could use the Tension weather, or something similar, for this.

I do like the hunt spawn possibility being available from the hunt scholar. Too often someone forgets to mark the ToD, and that can lead to a lot of wasted work with S Ranks, especially for ARR/HW hunts.
