It seems that the reason was to help people with their other jobs to get gear. So that instead of having to run it with the job that you want gear with you can now run with the job you want to and get gear for the other jobs..its just sad because that hurts tanks and healers probably the most and it does not really guarantee that much of a bigger chance for the other people since you know might roll against more people. (Especially when the weekly lockout is gone) If they at least gave us tokens at the same time this would have felt less bad..so I agree with you, I really hope that the sets dont look so good otherwise farming that for glamour would be even more a nightmare than before..

They could have easily changed this without it being negative for others by introducing tokens.

Have daily tokens for the recent raid. This way you can get a piece of gear in the raid itself with need or greed and an extra piece per week if you run it each day. This would only be there if this is the most recent raid thus keeping olders still alive for glamour runs and as soon as a new raid comes out, the tokens will go to this new raid. This way you will help those with more than one job but keep it fair for the rest too. And for all of those that come later they can loot any item anyway for glamour and stuff.

Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

That's the issue right there. I get the reasoning, but as someone with other jobs, I'd just run at the other jobs and hope rng was in my favor. now they stripped even that away, I honestly won't be running the alliance raids as much anymore and it stinks cuz i need to play catch up atm...

Well they did say they are taking feedback on this so lets hope enough people don't like it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah thats the reasonings for a lot of us, the simple: If you want gear for job x just play that job.

And honestly if that other job does not even have high enough ilvl to go into that raid then it feels like that you dont play it that much anyway since the Ilvl itself is not that high like other contents in a patch.

Exactly. And if I had one that low ilevel, once my other jobs I use regularly are set, I'd do greeds on it to maybe get a piece or two since it would be lowest priority. Well, we shall see how this goes and if they backtrack on it...

Pretty sure that once more feedback comes along they will have to backtrack. I know there are still a LOT of players who do Rabanaster, as the class they want the gear for, to up their alt classes. For me, it won't really have much affect, since I tend to upgrade my gear without the 24-man stuff for my main classes, and my alt classes I start working on after my main ones are done(even running the 24-mans just for the currency/cards/orchestration it drops).

Yeah normally I upgrade outside of 24 man, but usually mid expansion I get super lazy so I use the 24 man gear to catch up, which used to be bearable. I know I could stop being lazy, but theres other games to play T.T I can't help that. I don't hardcore gear typically till near the end of an expansion to be ready for the next one.

I think Tokens would be the best solution to make people not have to run it extra times for loot, as the biggest reason most people do is that on the first 20 times through, the loot RNG decides not to drop what people want. Most people are getting their loot on the first try when it does actually drop.
With tokens, you wouldn't need to get the RNG to drop the correct slot item for the correct role, you just run the dungeon and turn in your token(s) to get your loot.

Of course they'd have to make it rewarding enough to do it more than once a week, and being able to just grind endless amounts of loot wouldn't be good, so maybe increase other rewards... Gil, Tomestones and Materias...

What kind of token system though? For example, Omega's can definitly make you run extra times to get what you want. So not all systems are good for the job.

    1) Would the 8-raids system fit the 24-raids? You'd still have to compete with other people, making the number of runs to do random.
    2) Would the EX trials loot system (token+regular drop) fit? Also nope, because the EX trial system is not meant for a weekly lockout.
    3) Would a system similar to tomestones be good enough? It wouldn't be better than "go kill 10 wolves" except the wolves are 45mn to one hour instances. It'd also drive away people who just want whatever piece of gear they can get. And finally, you'd completly lose the exastic feeling people get when getting lucky with their loot, which is something a lot of people underestimate but is actually pretty important in MMORPG which are grindy by nature.
    4) Would a system awarding you with a random number of tokens be fine? (For example, getting between 1 and 3 tokens and you'd need 10 for a piece.) Still feels like a chore while also creates unfair situations where a terrible player would get more than you for no reason. Similar issues as 3). Just a bit better.

It's not easy to come up with a perfect solution. And a bad token system can be devastating.
A lot of people in this thread are saying "just make a token system!". A lot don't even give specifics, and when they do, it's usually far from flawless.

So, yeah, not as easy as it sounds.

You can do almost anything with tokens. You can keep the random loot with the weekly lockout and not increase how much loot you can get in a week, and still have a token system. An example is you make it so if you run the Alliance Raid three times in week and if you did not win any loot in those 3 runs, when you leave on the 3rd time, you get a token. The token can be traded in for one piece of gear that drops in that Alliance raid. The token puts you out on the weekly lockout for loot, so no getting two armor pieces in one week. You still can get lucky and get done quicker. The only difference now than before there is token to limit on how unlucky you can get.
