All the extra functionality that comes with paying extra is pay2win IMHO.

I just don't really care anymore tbh, I'll never pay for any of it, that's all I can do.

If there was some kind of rank for crafters or "gillionaires", I'll wholeheartedly agree with you. Because, at that point, everyone would actually participate in a shared "race".

So since there is no official rank for savage does that mean savage also has no win thus even if they introduce gear with stats or something else that just give an advantage its not P2W?

People can and will create their own goals..and if someone else can reach this goal faster than them because of retainers than the one that created their own goal is in an disadvantage. Again, people disliked the costumes that had nothing to do with PVP in Black desert online because they still gave an advantage even if there was not a real "win" either.

If we take your definition barely anything in games would count as that.

And yet it has over 70 likes. More than double the amount that dont see it that way. A forum is a minority of the playerbase but it seems that more people might see this as P2W than those that dont. At least with those that visit the forum. Its sad that something like that is seen as a joke even though its far away from trolling and even have lots of reasonings. You could just simply ignore it, if its just a joke for you.

Heck the problem is that there does not exist one right definition of P2W. I read through some other forums and you can have quite the different interpretations about that. It would just be nice if people at least see that retainers are an advantage. Maybe they are not P2W for you (as in those that dont see it that way) but they are still an advantage that is paid with real money and thus is already something that should (imo) not happen in a sub MMO.

If this is "already" P2W or not, doesn't really bother me that much. It is just that they took the dev time of their app/web team and obviously those devs are getting paid with sub money. So why would we pay years for a team that creates this feature that has to be bought again in the end? I rather would have wanted them to create content we don't have to pay for than this app. It's a win/win for them, they have zero cost developing and zero cost maintaining. So the players invested in a feature that lets them invest more money. I don't like this trend for a sub game.

There's not a true ranking but there's an implicit one

Not to mention that it happened that world first racers talked with the dev team from time to time in interwiews.

I know and I would find booster there horrible. I just wanted to point out that there is still no official ranking ingame thus if you dont watch streams or visit other sides you wont know who beat it world first. I am not sure but PVP does have at least an official ranking on this side. Does something similiar exit with names, pictures and stuff like that for savage too? My point was more that if you truly just count something as a win if it has official rankings (as in ingame or at least linked to the site of FF14) than savage would not fall under that.

Likes isn't relevant when in the grand scheme of things, they already have the system working and running. At best, you can mitigate the widespread use of the Moogle Coins by asking them to remove it, but the app and the $5 sub is here to stay. That's why it's a joke for me. But allegedly, OP has marked two problems being an issue for them, the fact that purchased retainers increase sale slots (I mean, at this point, you can just buy the gil to do your purchases for cheaper, SE isn't doing much to alleviate the RMT situation) and the fact that the 10th retainer is locked behind a paywall and isn't free.

I mean it's quite scummy, but the fact that it's up for debate is funny for me, because it's quite clear that there's problems.

Well tbh on KR servers they (as in the company running FFXIV in CN/KR not SE itself) will give prizes for the first ultimate coil kill.

As for Savage, It existed on the forums I think, not an official one, but it's more likely for ppl to find out who cleared savage first than the richest guy in the realm I'd say. As said that part of the game is a cesspool, trough the achievements you can know who cleared savage first sorta, but you can't really find who got to the gil cap first.
And really after get your mansion you are pretty much done with gils, true you can buy tons of potions and crafted gear, but you are more than likely sell those than using them to do savage.
The economy in this game is simply too much broken before even bots, retainers or anything.

While I usually hammer wow, imho their economy is better with BMAH since it exist only for one reason alone which is burning money, it doesn't help that every market has been killed off recently
