I really wonder, and honestly it makes it quite obvious that you haven't played them, HOW X-2, XIII-2 and LR would ever fit into the main game? They weren't "diced" to make more money, they were additional created content to give fans more fun. In case you didn't notice, they aren't exactly amazing sellers. Your point might stand with FFXV, but even then, all the actual "you need to pay for this" DLCs are not anything that would have fit into the actual game. Or are you going to tell me that meeting the Kingsglaive before dying was incredibly important to Noctis' end goal? Or about Boat fishing. 100% necessary and so much time to do it!!

They have an awesome job. It's not an easy job but you go into game development because you have a passion for it. Is it likely that all of the employees are motivated only by money and don't care about the players?

When the team travel the globe meeting players at events, signing things, taking pictures with fans, do they just see us as walking wallets? I don't think it's an act.

"Make it better" is subjective. A lot of people are satisfied that they are doing that. They add major things all the time which we take for granted but... go back in time and see the difference. No cross-world PF, workshops, flying, glamor system, deep dungeon, DX11 client, etc just to name a few random things.

I didn't mention anything about liking one game or another. But I'm currently playing Lightning Returns right now. Went in expecting it to be bad and it's actually a really fun game. But you go on caring what anyone else thinks about something you don't care about.

I guess you're perfectly fine with anything they do, no matter what it happens to be, then? What if you could buy diamond gear with moogle coins before the next set of Omega raids came out? Like Fhaerron said, how they make money is the important part here, along with keeping the game balanced and fair.

Personally, I could care less if I could buy raid gear for coins. Gear would still be available for free.

According to some hints shown on reddit, SE is actually investing quite well on FFXIV, in fact the staff working on the game has increased quite much over the year and while now is about the same size of Wow, they are still in a growth phase.

However the realbottleneck is that while they have a huge staff, they lack developers to create content, for example the battle planners during HW were 5 now they are 8 which is a few more than half of wow. That thread kinda confirmed my suspicions about the game state devs side. They have essentially the brawn but not the brain and apparently it's not because SE doesn't give them, it's because there simply aren't on the market developers interested for the position
