Have i lost faith in SE? No. Why would I had that?
Do i agree with everything they do? No.
Accept their decisions and either go with it or ignore it.
Oh no, a company that want to make money.
Then don't.Eureka I understand. They wanted to give people who played FINAL FANTASY XI something similar that still worked in FINAL FANTASY XIV. I'm pretty okay with it, as long as they improve things from here on.
But the FINAL FANTASY XIV Companion app? Absolutely no way do I support that.
I will be honest as a former concept artist/character designer in video gaming.
There need to be a balance of what you can and can not ask to the players.
Eureka, some ppl will like it, some ppl don't. That's a mater of taste and game designers shouldn't always listen to everyone complains or they will never advance or take any risk anymore. They should on the other hand listen to masses complains like the failure of Diadem and understand why it failed.
The mog station and the app on the other hand is something I hate in nowadays game business. I love FFXIV, I did buy a lot of MS items at 1-8€, to show my support. When it became 10€, I began to have a bad taste in my mouth. Late items cost 18-25€ > items with some other dye, a retexture, a ingame item (npc glam), emote already ingame....
Sorry, but a re texture => Photoshop > 2-10 min > save > put into the game motor > done. That's not 18€ worth!
As for the app, to make it viable > 1€ and no currency or 15€ but no monthly sub.

Ffxiv i would say has p2w features, but Eureka itself is fine. Players love it, some hate it but the game will not close down because of it.
I guess you're perfectly fine with anything they do, no matter what it happens to be, then? What if you could buy diamond gear with moogle coins before the next set of Omega raids came out? Like Fhaerron said, how they make money is the important part here, along with keeping the game balanced and fair.
I'd recommend ignoring Rinuko, everyone. They seem to be either trolling, or have a complete lack of understanding of basic psychology. Some people cannot grasp that, even if a P2W-style creation had no material effect on others, it is still something many players can't simply ignore by choosing not to participate.
Not to mention that it's often wrong. People claimed Diablo 3's real money auction house had no effect on people who didn't use it. Blizzard admitted otherwise when they removed it, explaining that it's very existence altered how the game played and how loot drops were defined. That affected the entire game and everyone who played it, including those who never touched it. There's a reason why Reaper of Souls was so much better received: removing that let them fix the underlying problem that it's existence created and get back to the game being about finding cool loot.I'd recommend ignoring Rinuko, everyone. Existing design influences future design. That's the way software design works.

Again a sarcastic speak about people complaining SE and profit...
A company can do profit, they have to. But there is anthing else, a bad word "Morality". And it is not a word i would use to speak about SE...
We all have our way to think, and see companies.edit: I think I should add that personally I'm well aware that all companies are not my friends or will have my best interests in the long run, in a way I'm jaded towards them and just waiting for CD project red to fall and become like the others. But perhaps I should be less pessimistic
There are different philosophy, and where some clearly go to a crazy way, some stay quite decent.
I go to support Camelot Unchained, the crowdfunded project from the dad of mythic entertainment (DAOC for exemple) and this even with the 2 years late in the shedule (the recent news are good btw) and some many people support the neverending project Star Citizen (the game Chris Robert never stop to increase... instead of finishing what was begun, release the game, and then improve it with more features...)
Those 2 last examples are proof people think they can trust to developpers.
Chris Robert is not his (future/already) customers friend, nor is Mark Jacobs. But people trust them.
Not because EA, SE or others are going on a mad way we should stop hope. I my mind, the EA way to do (and the different version, like konami) will go to a dead end. 80's did hurt hrad video games because companies was more on making money with numerous game than making quality games... This should happens again. There was quantity, now is the crazy microtransaction. only difference.
Also, i lost faith in SE, but i hope they will come back to a more moral way... (probably i am a sweet silly guy...)
If 13 and 15 didn't kill my faith in SE I'm not sure anything they do to 14 will...
