They simply said they won't be doing active translations on the forum and instead give a digest earlier (usually takes several months for them to do).

Granted my complaint does come from the fact that digests takes a lot of time from them, though how quick they'll post them up this time is on the unknown yet side, that said my point still stand it's only fair that non JP players can be able to understand LL directly

Wait what?? They are removing that too? Can we then just stop with Live letters at all?

Square Enix more than half of your playerbase is from NA and EU...stop thinking just about your JP playerbase...

Really this is just getting worse..now we even need to rely on fan translations with an official live letter..

As said they are removing it to focus on the digest, which may or may not come faster and hence my worry.

(Though considering what happened with the chrono trigger port, maybe even enough ppl will ask for this SE will comply)

They werent even going to keep up the live letters at all after 3.0's launch but because so many people wanted it they just reduced the frequency of them.

Are you guys meaning the short hand (and later long hand) official translation threads will no longer happen? If so, that does suck, kinda the opposite of what we are looking for. Although the fan translations are generally better, faster, and more detailed than the official translation. I miss the days when they did a live english translation with a translator during the actual event.

As of the Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XLIII, we will no longer be posting update threads on the official forum. Instead, the key points will be posted on the official FFXIV Twitter account (@FF_XIV_EN) during the broadcast. We'll also be focusing on releasing the digest as soon as possible.

Ok, so its just the immediate translation that wont be up but they will still be releasing the full digest once its fully translated. Better than I thought but still not as good as I hoped. I dont twitter so I guess I just have to watch for the fan translations.

Especially not when Facebook was recently exposed at mishandling private data - and let's not pretend as if there isn't a decent chance that other major social media companies are tied to the same shady dealings, either. This is the official site for FFXIV. It most definitely should be one of the primary sources for FFXIV related information.

Then don't use Twitter? All the key points and relevant info from the live letter will be posted with the digest to the official site.

Last 3-4 live letter digests weren't bad honestly in time span between update thread and digest. ~2 weeks for 3 of the 4 live letters and the Dec one took 30 days because of holiday. Could certainly be faster and hopefully with cutting the update thread it'll be within the week.
