Can we be done with the "lala pride" jokes then too? Because I'm sure as heck tired of seeing that in shout/alliance chat...

It's just harmless fun really. Potato players have "lol i bite ur ankle so funneh" jokes, we have roasted potato jokes.

For me, it originates in FFXI, Chains of Promathia mission 3-3(the Windurst part). There's 3 taru taru that wreak some havoc on some poor npc. As a result I have to go to Attowha Chasm and climb some god forsaken mountain to fetch an item. The mountain was like a jump puzzle, without being able to jump. Probably the most annoying quest in all of FFXI. Lala are the FFXIV version of taru, therefore, they inherit my hate.

That's fine but constantly hearing "What's your fave way to kill/cook a lalafell?" in shouts gets really old really fast...

Well... I guess blame all the fates that imply Lalafells are tasty. 11/10 mobs add lalafell to their preferred menu. But yeah it would get old hearing the same things over and over.

Some people cite the behaviour of certain NPCs. Though why do people get their Jimmies rustled more with this race? Is it that they don't meet their expectations? Prejudices seem to play their part in it. Remembering someone who stands out is certainly easier.
Another thing are the PCs who can be loud and excessive in their abuse of emotes. The self-perpetuating cycle of force and counterforce - e.g. the "master-race" meme. People disliking things that are out of the "norm". Popular bandwagons for hating things that were designed to be appealing. Confirmation bias?

i dont think there is any hate on lalafells, i tend to poke fun at it and call them potatoes when messing around on the game with a friend, but i dont hate the race.

For me, it's more to do with the players who played lalas back in 2.0. Every single lala i met was greedy, rude, bossy, flirted with every female they met and most of all, huge friggin drama queens.

Sadly it's still 50/50 on whether a lala player is like the above or not now.

Oh, can't forget the horrible emote noises 2 notorious female lala players spammed for hours at a time in Mor Dhona on Gilgamesh during 2.0. A LOT of the server rejoiced when they quit the game.

Well, tell that Au Ra Raen. Xaela got alot of background information, a big part in the Stormblood Main Scenario Questline and even their own area (Azim Steppe)... while Raen just live in a pineapple under the ruby sea, with no backstory other than: "Raen were created by The Dawn Father and left the Azim Steppe. They are no dragons. The end."

I would say for myself go with hate them generally with a few exceptions. My issue is that they are small and cute which makes them look like children which brings up the issue of feeling like a pedofile around them.

I don't hate most Lala and some times want one to just cuddle. They're walking talking teedy bears. Until they emote spam or are female and have that one voice and then spam the i think it's the shocked emote? Then boy howdy do i want to strangle them. Then there is that one male voice that if they do the laugh it comes out as a very creepy affirmation that they have to be evil with that kind of laugh. You stop thinking they're cute then. Also everyone should go and watch that cut scene from 1.0 where two miners who happen to be Lalalfells drag two hyurs out of a bar by their feet. Then proceed to lift them up off the ground, do a spin and toss them. If that doesn't make you side eye lalas even players then I'm not sure what else would.
