Lol you literally have to run around forever to find the currents and it's not fun I prefer to fly sorry but they can still make the maps fun and engaging with flying in it and FYI AAR maps were just as boring lol

I'd prefer a realistically limited form of flight over either completely free or inexistent flight.
For instance, let's say the currents are actual, real currents that pull you along with them and that glide really is a physics-based occurrence, and that any permanently available mount must therefore make use of these currents to maintain flight beyond a mere glide to the ground, due to limitations by physics and stamina. Meanwhile, other mounts may have more freedom of movement, but are still limited by stamina and/or access points (e.g. can summon a particular dragon as a mount from within his or her domains, but for a limited time overall, with the summon itself chipping off a bit of that resource, based on distance from domain).

Flying kills any hope of interesting content on the maps.
The problem is that ARR content was mostly boring too because the devs are quite inept at this...
I'd like future areas to have more in them, like the 2.0 areas and Eureka, but not at the expense of flying. Let us fly, but make us want to walk, if that makes sense.
I think the way we do it now is fine. I'd rather this topic didn't become a recurring theme for every expansion like it has over on the WoW forums. Plus then i wouldn't have any reason to do my beast tribe dailies besides the exp. It's still possible to enjoy the game from the earth just the same as one could from a bird's eye view.
I wouldn't mind it at all. In fact look at World of Warcraft: people scream they'll unsub if there's no flying at an expansion's launch. I would rather have gorgeous zones that feel alive than appease a few entitled players.
People seem fixed on the idea of 100% flying or 100% not flying. I think what would be best would be to have maybe 1 or 2 big maps for flying/swimming (or omit swimming altogether), and have the rest of the maps be smaller and better designed, this allows the dev team to really focus on the map designs without feeling the need to fill 6 or 7 large zones.
I do agree that the ARR maps are far more memorable, and Eureka was refreshing
I rather hold on to flying it's something i really don't want to lose
Unlike other MMO's, I find that flying is just more of a convince in FF XIV. The mobs don't have an 'aggro range' rather only attacking you if they have direct line of sight. Flying is something in this game that a player can get away with not having. I have a friend who still hasn't unlocked flying in the Lochs but they are just fine running around on their mount.
Eureka has very little to do inside the zone except for turn ins or the train atm..this is why running on foot works. Go ahead and go do your gathering in HW/SB areas without flying for a day if you gather and see how much more convenient flying is. SE loves to make you go the extreme long way around and you will find it gets really old really fast.
As for scenery I find it gives a better look from the sky because you get more of the landscape from above than you do from down below.
it's the little things you miss the most, take away something that you've been used to for a while and you will long for that something to be back.
