No flying in 5.0: Would it be better?

Eureka is really the most beautiful area they've added since the 2.0 areas. While I love the 3.0 and 4.0 areas I can't help but like the 2.0/Eureka areas more, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.
Would anyone be ok if 5.0 drops flying and we can have dense forests and amazing locations like Eureka?

As long as there's stuff to do in the open world I wouldn't really care. If not...I'd rather they just let us fly from point A to B.

YES! 1000x, YES!!! Since flying was introduced, the maps have been really huge and kind of barren. Not even half as many Aetheryte crystals as in ARR which means the time it takes to get somewhere is significantly longer. It is not fun to have to go to a certain part of the map that's out of the way, and spend minutes at a time doing nothing but flying in one direction with one hand and checking your phone with your other. The areas in ARR were not only small, but really condensed and distinctive. Flying may sound nice, but its implementation caused navigation to be a whole lot worse than it was before.

i never was a big fan of the flying anyway. of course i do use my flying mount, but it's much nicer to move on the ground.

anyway, the 3.0 and 4.0 areas are much bigger than the 2.0 areas, but there aren't more aetherites. they either have to make smaller maps again, add more aetherites, or we will have some reeeaaally long and boring walks before us, for hunt mobs, gathering, beast tribes and uhm... fates(?) over and over again...

remove flying would not lead to a better experience. but maybe they should add some incentives to walk more on the ground? they increased the mount speed in 4.0, wich was a good step in the right direction.

maybe some sort of a walk-mile-system? xD

I wouldn't be opposed to this.

Making it harder to get places is not fun. I like how it is now. You have to explore the map then you unlock the ability to just get places on return visits.

I actually enjoy looking for the aethercurrents. I also like the sort of maps that can be created because of flying, like The Sea of Clouds and The Churning Mists.

I'd like flying to be a bit more meaningful. There should be more places that have some sort of content (like quests, gathering nodes, maybe even access to a special type of content) accessible only by flying.

I have been thinking the same think since Eureka. It's a beautiful map. I'm even willing to take a few maps with flying and a few with none if they're as intricate as Eureka.

I favor a lot of the 2.0 areas too. The 3.0 and 4.0 maps are nice, but tend to be a whole lot of empty space.

The world is mostly bland anyway. There are too many teleports for the removal of flying to have a big impact IMO. Removing flying would just have you teleport and ground mount there - not much difference except making it a pain and more frustrating to gather due to timed nodes. So I would lean no personally, but I don't feel too strongly about it.

Considering the increased mount speed you get eventually and the heavy when hit is gone, I don't see the point in removing it. I mean I guess the falcon porters would be used more so there's that.

Interesting viewpoints here but I just wanted to say that I prefer the fact that 3.0 and 4.0 maps are bigger than 2.0 so if a community manager is reading this please don't tell the devs that we ALL want smaller maps. What I'm looking for is for them to keep the same size map or even bigger but designed similar to Eureka basically where every location is like a painting to look at, beautiful, unique and full. Hopefully there's more support for this and even if we don't see it in 5.0 hopefully they consider it for 6.0.
