I would say the AF1 broken item gear you get in lvl 50 dungeons that everyone trows away anyway.
Make it so you can at least get some gils or marks with it ...because I know nobody trading them to the mor dhona npc for that AF dyable gear.

You. I like you....even if you'll burn me for bringing this up: Genderlocks on gear.
Specially in the light of recent events (the release of the male bunny outfit, that took about 2 years) I've asked myself this question again - infacte I've asked myself different versions of this question:
If removing a genderlock from gear later takes them 2 years but they eventually wanna do it as Yoshi stated once, why do they keep adding to genderlocked gear?
And while I personally dont agree with the argument that "Male characters shouldnt be allowed to wear dresses because its not something men do" (or some version of this), I can at least see a tiny bit of a reason there not to unlock something like the Thavnair Autumn dress (and obviously keep the Shirt males only aswell then). Just a tiny bit though, that I dont agree with.
However, this falls "reason" falls flat on its face when it comes to stuff like the Expeditioners Shoes for example. Genderlocked Shoes? Why?
As for the reason of giving the artist more freedom creating gear-sets for just one gender: They can still do that. They can initially design a set for females, a set for males and still model them for both genders.
Solution: Stop releasing genderlocked gear - start working on unlocking stuff instead. If they want to do that anways better not build up more workload and instead try to remove the locks that already are in place - specially the extremly arbitrary ones like on shoes, gloves, headgear.
As for my "Why is this still a thing": Item bloat. There should not be 20-30 different versions of leather when often times we barely have the item space for gear. These should either be all turned into a single item, or should have their own dedicated inventories already available in the game. ie: an inventory for "leathers", "fabrics", "ores", "lumber", etc. Because the biggest thing that's been keeping me from crafting has been the fact that the sheer amount of items (that you can't throw away, mind you ) there are have made it where my mother-who has all of her gatherers at 70 and all of her crafters at 65 and above- has barely any inventory space despite having nine retainers. Even with the 999 stack increase.
Am I a boy? Am I a girl? Who knows! But I enjoy video games and that's all anyone should care about!
Instead of removing Protect from the game or altering damage to formulas to make Protect useless and further make the game even more brain dead that it already is why don't just alter the formulas the make Protect actually useful?
Why we have to always remove signature skills just to make the game simpler and simpler and in the end just boring?
DRK lost lots of its aesthetic and style after SB. Some really cool animations and skills were removed for the shake of "make things simple".
Sure things became a tad simpler but also way more boring.
Would like Holy to be removed from the game? Would like egis to be removed from the game?
Protect is an iconic skill. Tweak it and make it useful. Don't remove it.
I agree on that, I am a healer and when I see someone died in raid for example, I want that protect back up to save some hp.
I don't want this game to become more brain dead "push one button". I am already sad about my dear stoneskin.
Remeber when in FFXI, when we even had a group protect for magic damages?
Just make it so it become a skill you have not locked between a subjob, same as for Esuna, every healer should have it.
Do it also for mandatory skills like provoke for tank.
Finally, make protect more powerfull, that you feel more the pain of someone without it. it will push healers toward caring more about buffs/heals than just spam "stone" because it became so easy in some parts of the game to just become a mindless dps healer.

Keep in mind that those signature skills come from a (mostly) turned-based RPG. Casting Protect during a turn instead of attacking is a strategic choice that doesn't really transfer in real time combat.
You could bring back Protect from FFI (You can't really be more iconic than that) with Protect being stackable, and with a short duration. But I guess several healers would find tiresome to maintain a top-tier Protect constantly.
It's already a role action like Esuna, every healer have access to it.
Why Attribute Potions share the same CD as Ether (MP) and Potion (HP) ?
Flightless ARR horses, I could have easily ignored this a year or so ago but we're getting to the point of flying T-Rexes and Elephants(Marid). Also apply flight to the remaining Beast Tribe mounts so players are more likely to invest in the beast tribes.
The lack of audio device control, if I switch audio jack XIV could get reassigned to another sound device automatically and I have no way of retrieving this besides shutting the game down and restarting over.
Also, get rid of the ability to change level 1 glamor items for 6~ GC seals, such as Ultima Horns, PotD earrings. Nobody is going to miss that.
True, but many healers in my parties don't have it on their bar for some other skills they use in raids for example.
Many times I went roulette or raid and asked why the other healer didn't protect or esuna ppl "oh because the slot is used for something els"
So SE should make protect and esuna a default skill on the bar. Will also avoid us to make annoying macros to switch it before and after fights.

Darkside
the same as Protect, just press it once and then remove the button from the hot bar. all it does is making you ugly with that underwhelming aura effect...
Dark Passenger, Soul Survivor, Living Dead, Dark Mind...
you know what?
why is Dark Knight still a thing?

The problem with Protect isn't the amount of defense it provides. The problem is that it's fire and forget. You put it up and then ignore it. It's the only skill in the game where it makes sense to macro it such that you can cast it and immediately replace it with something else.Instead of removing Protect from the game or altering damage to formulas to make Protect useless and further make the game even more brain dead that it already is why don't just alter the formulas the make Protect actually useful?

Making it so it provides more defense for a minute on a 3m cooldown or something is more interesting because now I get to decide when I want that extra defense. That would be more interesting.
