    True innovation is pretty much impossible when it comes to a game like this - at least on a large scale. Asking for something absolutly new and breathtaking seems a bit naive to me - which is why it is so, so bad that they continue to claim that Eureka would be excatly that.
    This game has certain limits in which to work - the way our characters move, the limits of the server, the stuff thats already in the game... all of that is hindering this to be something absolutly new.
    And personally I'm even okay with that - after all I'm playing this game because I like playing this game.

    But innovation can happen on other scales - they could put things together in a way they've never been put together before. And for that its a good idea to look at other games.

    The same for giving feedback here - I'm not sure if they're gonna read it or get told about it, but its definetly more helpful to hear people say "Hey, there was this piece of content that I liked - maybe something like that could work here?" instead of just "Give me something I've never done before!"

    There are good ideas in this game (for example: I'd like to see daily quests in Eureka or something like the Hunting Bills, a list of monsters you're supposed to hunt in order to get some sort of bonus), aswell as in other games - the whole "defend the city"-thing sounds intresting to me, so why not work with that?
    Looking for inspiration and things people like in other games is less risky than true innovation, thats true - but if they do it right, I dont mind them playing it safe.
    Besides... they claimed that both Diadem and Eureka were completly new and innovative content for them - and I'm sorry, if thats their idea of "new and innovative content", I'd rather have them re-do something from FFXI.

    I dont want to see this game turned into FFXI - if someone wants to play that, they can play that already. But if there are good gamedesign ideas in that game, why shouldnt they take and tweak them to work with FFXIV? Seriously, thats how games are made in the first place. The whole FF-series started because they wanted to make a game like Dragon Quest!

    So I tried it again. They changed a few things, I want to see the zone and do the story, and more than anything, I want to like it. I was level 3 when I started today.

    First time, I shouted twice and got in the NM train. It was boring, and I got pittances of EXP when we did high level spawns. Died a couple times due to falling behind people on their mounts and catching the eye of a random mob. Once I got left behind by my own party (the level 17 RDM even walked right over me to keep up, come on!) I left. Got two levels though. This to me feels like the path of least resistance.

    Second time, I shouted a bunch of times as a lvl 5 healer LFG. No one replied. Formed a party with other low level people (range 3~6) and started the mob grind. The experience was mind-numbingly boring even though I switched to tank for the group. We helped spawn a NM around our level and got Silver for it since the train was there and we weren't a full party. I even tanked the NM for most of the fight. We went back to trying to spawn another NM around our level but didn't have any luck before people's timers ran out. Didn't level at all.

    I don't mind long grinds but this is flat-out awful. Right now there is no way for me to enjoy it. The only chance I have to get to 20 before the heat death of the universe is to follow NM groups that take pity on me as I wait around for them to do all the work. At this point I just want to do the damn story but getting to the level milestones is so god-awful I might not even bother. It pains me because I like Krille, the set-up feels like it was tailored to my interests, and the island itself is gorgeous. But Eureka is all the worst parts of old games with none of the fun or rewards that made them worth the effort.

    Also make it so everyone gets credit for a mob they helped kill, no matter how little the contribution. This is kind of the same problem we had in Campaign where DD got little xp and tanks\healers who did nothing but spam enmity-generating abilities made bank. WHY WOULD YOU COPY THAT SYSTEM WE ALL HATED IT.
    This. It's something that could stand to be applied to FATEs and hunts too. There's no real reason to party up for these things a lot of the time other than
    1) helping moochers get full credit anyway
    2) requirements are arbitrarily set so high that you just have to party in order to reach max rating, even if what you do in the party doesn't change one bit

    That's true, the story went no where. It was more like a Trailer than a Prologue. When they were going to evoke FF11's playstyle, and deal with Krile's backstory etc thats been mentioned so many times since 2.x, I expected some ridiculously long cutscenes ;/ It felt as if instead they intentionally evoked the laughable parody of FF Mystic Quest where the plot and character interaction felt like a jab at the audience's intellect.

I want it to improve also and I'm with you on that completely. But my only issue is that one point we keep fighting about.. I'm sorry.. that point I can't agree with.. cause I'm a monk. My rotation is the same in there as it is in dungeons, as it is in raids - 24 man raids-. so on that front... yes it's all the same thing to me. I'm not in there -spamming buttons as you say.- Spamming to me is hitting one skill over and over and over... which techinally you can't even do anyway... unless you wanna dragon kick the whole time.. which is dumb.
    It is not the same at all, do you even know how to keep near 100% uptime while dealing with mechanics? This is why people use prasers, to do specific different things at different times because of downtime phase switching and doing x,y,z as you move in position. You can't tell me this:

    So you can't really use the idea x dungeon is like y dungeon because all you do is kill things. How you do it is drastically different, is is what you do is what matters. (And the fact he did could not really explain how the different crafters are different but can be the "same" depending on your gear/melds making everything done on same macro or not, with crafting classes they are slightly imbalanced, i/e it is easiest to HQ goldsmith crafts vs the others because of what you have to cross class)


    Is the same as hitting the monster once and mass raising people while being oneshot because you can't see stuff because of the bad server response and input lag when you have more then 30+ people around. NO ONE can try 100% uptime on diadem 3.0 NMs just because of the input lag increase.

    Those suggestions is what Diadem needs, it needs more then fate train.

    So I went back in this week..... havent played Eureka since like launch. I'm level 12 now and all I did was follow the train, poke an NM and afk. It capped my tomes but lol this content is not great in the slightest. I've been getting some of the enjoyment mostly from the convos inside shout chat. I think it needs a lot of work next zone. So my 2nd impression is now.... it's still not great but at least fun to socialize in. Oh yeah and to get the Good Samaritan title.

    I'm not saying that they should just copy/paste these ideas straight out of XI but that they could get inspired by ideas like these and experiment with them.
    If you don't want an MMORPG that isn't influenced by its past single-player games and one other MMORPG game, maybe this game, which has been called an homage and open love letter to past FF games, is not for you... >x>

    It's a game built largely on fan service. It will always be influenced by other FFs in some way. Also, XIV received a little bit of inspiration from WoW at the start. Yoshi even stated as much in an article back then. Blizzard says "you're welcome".

    Idd, I found the criticism of omega raids beign just fanservice to be a bit unwarranted considering they said in ARR time that essentially XIV was a fanservice mmo for FF fans
