    Give us stealth medicines and spells. This half-baked aggression system where you just time it to walk behind everything or hit \ is silly. It was silly at launch, and it's silly now. If you want to put in content that is XI-like, take ALL the aspects of XI that helped us navigate the world

    I don't know what you are on about. It's impossible for this game to be innovative - they tried and it failed so miserably that they had to infuse a metric ton of cash into it, change producers, and it STILL is struggling with things that should be very basic MMO staple.

    This content was meant to give the XI players who miss partying and other aspects of a game many of us played for OVER A DECADE a sense of belonging and something we could participate in. It's miserable garbage, but that doesn't mean they should stop trying to hit that perfect balance of modern mmo holy trinity dungeon crawl and open world party-based hunting.

    Eureka does get better. Since my post I brute forced through some levels and once you get the aetherytes it's easier to get to the train and move around. So it's not SO painful anymore, but it just reinforces my belief that they shouldn't be gated if this content will continue to function in the way it does. Players need ways to navigate this map if it's going to remain this dangerous with no other real options for lower levels.

    I'd like to complain about the fact my dots won't apply to a Zerged NM. I depend on those dots to do my best bard rotation and it procs several of my abilities.

    I also think solo and group grinding should reward enough crystals and experience to make it competitive with the NM train. I just do not find it fun to only hit these spawning monsters once or twice before they die because of the herd. I don't mind a grind as long as I get to use my abilities and be rewarded for the effort in a meaningful way.

    I also wish we could use our chocobos. We have these darn things and we can keep leveling them and finding new barding for them but once you cap your level they only get used briefly on hunts. I also wish we could have some meaningful rewards for slaying monsters in the world in general like the MMO's of old but I guess that is not really related to the thread topic.

    True innovation is pretty much impossible when it comes to a game like this - at least on a large scale. Asking for something absolutly new and breathtaking seems a bit naive to me - which is why it is so, so bad that they continue to claim that Eureka would be excatly that.
    This game has certain limits in which to work - the way our characters move, the limits of the server, the stuff thats already in the game... all of that is hindering this to be something absolutly new.
    And personally I'm even okay with that - after all I'm playing this game because I like playing this game.

    But innovation can happen on other scales - they could put things together in a way they've never been put together before. And for that its a good idea to look at other games.

    The same for giving feedback here - I'm not sure if they're gonna read it or get told about it, but its definetly more helpful to hear people say "Hey, there was this piece of content that I liked - maybe something like that could work here?" instead of just "Give me something I've never done before!"

    There are good ideas in this game (for example: I'd like to see daily quests in Eureka or something like the Hunting Bills, a list of monsters you're supposed to hunt in order to get some sort of bonus), aswell as in other games - the whole "defend the city"-thing sounds intresting to me, so why not work with that?
    Looking for inspiration and things people like in other games is less risky than true innovation, thats true - but if they do it right, I dont mind them playing it safe.
    Besides... they claimed that both Diadem and Eureka were completly new and innovative content for them - and I'm sorry, if thats their idea of "new and innovative content", I'd rather have them re-do something from FFXI.

    I dont want to see this game turned into FFXI - if someone wants to play that, they can play that already. But if there are good gamedesign ideas in that game, why shouldnt they take and tweak them to work with FFXIV? Seriously, thats how games are made in the first place. The whole FF-series started because they wanted to make a game like Dragon Quest!

    I'm not saying that they should just copy/paste these ideas straight out of XI but that they could get inspired by ideas like these and experiment with them.
    If you don't want an MMORPG that isn't influenced by its past single-player games and one other MMORPG game, maybe this game, which has been called an homage and open love letter to past FF games, is not for you... >x>

    It's a game built largely on fan service. It will always be influenced by other FFs in some way. Also, XIV received a little bit of inspiration from WoW at the start. Yoshi even stated as much in an article back then. Blizzard says "you're welcome".

    Idd, I found the criticism of omega raids beign just fanservice to be a bit unwarranted considering they said in ARR time that essentially XIV was a fanservice mmo for FF fans

    For me, the problem is not to be fanservice, but to be only fanservice.

    For example, Crystal Tower is fanservice but is was incorporated in XIV's lore, with Xande being the Allagan Emperor, the tower being a beacon to channel Dalamud's power, etc...No boss in Omega has any actual background tied to them, on top of the each turn having almost no connection with the next one.

    The omega series is pretty weird and out there sort of speak...
    ARR was cool with Coil of Bahamut, having good music, and more to it then just enter and kill one thing

    This is one of the things that got me, its way way too much unlinked fanservice. I never played any of the previous FFs except for VII, I know, my fault, but still. When I went into some of the encounters, they fangirls and fanboys were gushing all over the place and here I was... meh... just a boss, no lore for me or anything in XIV. Even the new 24 player raid was meh for me as I didn't understand a thing besides somebody was missing and we had to rescue them. I didn't recognize anybody in it or understood why it was so darn omg omg omg. Its like going to the lost city of Atlantis and never knowing about the place, its just some pile of ruins.
    I didn't mind the previous expansions fanservice as they linked into the current lore and that's what I want, XIV lore. The links in this expansions lore is paper thin and the raids are not raids, lets be honest, there not. There just 4 primals each expansion, no trash to clear, no real threats, none at all. Just go in, punch em in the face and go out. Heck, even Zenos gave us the courtesy of attacking us first before walking off saying your not good enough, Omega hasn't done any of that and he beat Bahamut, we should be scared silly about him but were not. All we got for a raid this expansion is an aloof robot that we will no doubt beaten in a lackluster format.
    I really wanted Eureka to capture me and drag me in lore wise, environment wise, encounter wise, but I got none of that. I have never played XI and don't intend to, I want to play and love XIV but its getting very hard to login. I've even started playing WoW after 4 years of dedicated XIV play. I miss the mountains of lore they once gave us, the awesome music by Solken which is nowhere to be heard, the amazing sea of colors in the world design. It all seems to be gone... all we have now is bland designs, bland colors and music I cant even remember.

    Has this game become nothing but homage quest? What has happened to XIV's identity in this expansion?
