Remove Protean Crystal Requirement for First Quest

It legit takes one, there is no way u haven't gotten one in 10 lvls, since the hotfix I even get 5-10 each mob group on the train while trying to spawn the NM

The only way to have not received one protean crystal by 10 is by killing mobs far higher than you, making crystal drops impossible. The fate train makes this happen regularly. As high as lv 10 w/o the drop though, almost half the enemies FT kills are capable of dropping loot. Only way i could see you with zero protean is only partaking in ridiculously high NM's, or simply being AFK in all NM's AND everyone else in your pty also not participating. Other option? Your inventory has been full. If thats the case... Im frankly laughing at you.

Fate train does NM's as low as emperor on a regular basis and on occasion will even visit lower from time to time. Look for them to chain mobs slightly higher than you. Typhoon elemental would be great at level 10. Join a party with a tank, tag mobs with him, and chain. I have never seen mob not drop 1 crystal in a 30 chain before, but it certainly wouldnt happen with mobs at that level.

Eureka could be so much better if the content wasn't gated before the 1st protean crystal, I''ve grinded up to elemental level 10 and haven't gotten any.

It's called a tutorial, you get them large crystals from NM fates and smaller ones from chains if mobs are equal or greater level than you. If you have reached level 10, have not gotten one then that means two things.

First; your probably not looking at your inventory if you have done some fates you should of gotten at least one.

Two; you skipped the dialog, your anti social and have not asked for help.

Or, y'know, they could be grouped up with players that are far higher in level, who also participate in the mob killing (which is often the case with NM train groups)
It's not just exp that's greatly affected by lvl differences, but loot drops as well. I didn't start getting protean crystals randomly from mobs, while in a NM group, until I got closer to 20.

Sure, it got me plenty of Anemos crystals, but those are completely useless at that point, since the option to convert them doesn't unlock until after you've shown a protean crystal to Krile.

Fair point, still is 100% in their court though. Pair up with similar leveled people. Use player search to make it happen.

Or they could just allow players to show an Anemos crystal to Krile instead.

I mean, the quest is about keeping Rowena happy and showing a crystal that could potentially be sold for a lot. Why wouldn't she prefer a crystal that's actually worth more (since an anemos crystal can be converted to 2-5 protean crystals)?

Hmmm kind of odd first 3 levels I had around 35 if the smaller crystals, i was doing consecutive chains and was well geared, and mobs 1-2 levels above mind made them drop faster, was risky though. So unless you were not making chains I can believe that reason. Did you at any point make it to chain 30? those were usually guarantee 1-10 if solo, 5-15 in duo. Only other reason I could see is that you are just plain unlucky with RNG.

I had at least two chains close to 30, soloing equal level mobs as a squishy RDM. I had vercure taking up dps time, which eventually caused me to drop both chains before reaching 30. This was before the knowledge of the eurekan potion being really strong for soloing, which is what eventually allowed me to still get a few high chains at lvl 10, while missing magicite.

Yeah, as others have said, I would kill enemies your level or higher, maybe with a group if needed. I entered Eureka when the servers went live, found myself a group and everyone had their crystal in like, 5-10 minutes. I had mine in 3.

Even if they had Anemos crystals, I don't think you can trade them until doing that first quest. That opens up another quest to talk to Gerolt, who exchanges them. So I don't know what the OP is doing. Probably just following NM trains around.

Right but even with the train as long as you even get bronze you still get anemos crystals, hence why I was asking if they were getting any at all, if they weren't getting anemos I would assume it to be a bug because there's no way you can get to lvl 10 without getting at least 1 anemos, even then it's pretty hard to get to 10 without getting chains or getting a few golds on the fate.
