Haven't really commented on Eureka so far, but kinda feel that I can now that I'm level 19 and have effectively reached the "endgame" of the content. Apologies if these points have come up before and for the rambly nature of this.
It's generally been extremely hit and miss but the absolute biggest killer for this content for me is the almost towering barrier of entry for new players. There is literally nothing to give you an investment into the content to begin with and this lasts all the way to level 9. Rewards are slim to non-existant to begin with, the map is extremely dangerous and frustrating to anyone not familiar with FFXI or the general mechanics of the zone itself, and I do not find spending 90% of my time dead (and in FATEs) in any way engaging.
This has done an excellent job of putting people off when first impressions are the most important.
That said, once you reach the levels required to do the higher level FATEs, then the content becomes a lot more interesting (as you can contribute and some bosses actually have mechanics!), rewards are plentiful and you gain a sense of accomplishment and progression as more and more of the zone becomes accessible without the stress of aggro. The zone is beautiful if you take the time to soak it in as well, which I want to say is the cause of the delays, cos it sure as hell wasn't the content design.
I've been able to get enough crystals to gear a job from my grind from 1-20, which I find reasonable but that initial slog was absolute hell. Once you get to the point where you can farm feathers from Pazuzu, the content becomes much much better in terms of it's rewards.
Can I also say how nice it is to be able to have a realistic way to gear up multiple jobs to a reasonable level fairly quickly now? For a game that loves you having multiple jobs on one character, it sure does hate you playing more than 1 or 2 roles at a time.
