They cancelled the TCG stuff about 2 years ago I think? Maybe 3, honestly don't remember. That's not really something to compare with the cash shops though. Arguably it was worse, but not the same. They also made those rewards obtainable in game via the BMAH after they stopped printing cards...if not all of them, most of them. WoW's cash shop is also like, 1/100th the size of XIV's. They've got mounts, pets, and some glamour. That's it. I don't really count character services because every game has those in some form or another (aka transfers, appearance changes). And they only add to it maybe 4 times in an expansion cycle. Usually it's 2 mounts and 2 pets. Other than those 4 things, and 3 helmets, the mounts, pets armor sets are obtainable in game. XIV's cash shop is way, way, WAY more expensive for most things too. Even WoW's glamour pieces are cheaper and are far fewer in number. There's like, 3 of those I think. Another thing to also mention is, all of WoW's cash shop items are account wide.

If you think that I'm defending FFXIV cash shop you are mistaken, I've said in the later replies that I despise cashop and bad behaviors about any company, I don't like ppl that turn a blind eye about them because they are their favorite,
Regardless I could say that most of FFXIV cash shop items have been avaible in-game and if you did the events they might aswell not exist for you.
As for the TCG I don't know if they appear on BMAH but I do know that the code can be redeemed again and that's why ppl sells them on E-bay or other places and while it's not something to compare to you it's still a terrible way to wall in-game items just like the statue with the emote, though I HOPE ppl spent money on it because they wanted the statue and not the emote.
As the FFXIV cash shop beign more expensive. Last time I checked it wasn't, maybe they did a big cut, but frankly it was some EU cheaper than FFXIV and as for things beign account wide, I agree that's shitty though the game doesn't really encourages having more than one character.

edit (post saving: @Aerlana I've spent a post to explain that cash shops are the worst I simply don't like ppl turning a blind eye to blizzard because it's blizzard. as I said if it was konami or EA or WB doing something that either bethesda or Activision-blizzard does everyone will be at their throat
