I really just have to ask, did folks really not expect another huge grind? Expectations for this really were far too high and I've personally seen players on my server telling people to avoid it.

Personally, I expected a huge grind. That's not really the issue. It's just how the grind is being handled is all.

I expected a grind; but I expected it to be at least for gear that wasn’t already outclassed by current crafted or Sigmascape NM gear. If the relic armor had been i355/i360, then I would probably feel like the grind was more worth it, since it would give a viable alternative at least, especially for those who don’t raid, since that has always been the purpose of relics. But, as it stands now, none of the jobs I play frequently would actually benefit from the i355 weapon or the i350 gear, because they’re already geared with an i355 weapon and i350 gear (or better, if we’re talking about BRD).
I don’t know. Like I said in my novel worth of early-morning-grind feedback, trying to reserve my judgment until I level up more and see how things are at level 10, 15, 20. I do agree with some posters that have expressed concerns about soloing the content. I understand the purpose of encouraging party formation and interaction and the like, but for those that prefer to solo-grind, this may not be a viable option in Eureka. We’ll just have to see, I guess.

I don't understand how you and the other defenders of this excrement haven't figured it out after 35 pages. Most people expected a grind. Anyone even vaguely familiar with the previous steps expected a grind. While there are some people complaining about the estimated time to complete, most people are mad at what the actual task is and not the time it takes to complete it.
To reiterate, Eureka could have been literally any other kind of content and I would not be as mad about it as I am. If the time to complete was the same but I had to spend it grinding fates for atmas instead of just camping monsters, I would still think it sucks, but it would suck in a way I find acceptable. I would grumble in chat channels about how tedious it was, but I would do it. I would not be here shitposting about this DoA content.

There's grind, and then there's grind. The trick with good grind is disguising it. Objectives, varied gameplay, byte sized things that show progress, etc.
A grind that requires you to run 15 dungeons, do 5 FATES, and craft 4 things would not be especially short, but it has you doing lots of different things and takes you around to various places. That will turn people off far more slowly than "kill 500 boars to get the thingies", even if the actual effort is basically the same.

its a good point, but I really wouldn't mind kill 500 boars if it was actually kill 500 boars and not, currently, kill 210 boars in a row and only if they're +5 levels over you, by the way dynamic weather enjoy your randomly spawning ice/water sprites while you do so.There's grind, and then there's grind.
