    The concept of it I enjoy. However, I believe that they could, and should, tweak the drop rate of proteans and also the exp gains. I don't mind grinding or farming, but I think the time and effort isn't really proportionate to the rewards being given currently.

    It is really interesting that Japanese community only want a better player search UI in order to make party easier in Eureka when English community is only care about how fast they can get relic.

    Its content with an acquired taste, I don't mind people not liking it, but (much like raiding) this content is for a subset of players that enjoy this style of content, and people who don't enjoy that kind of content try to rip it apart and call it dead content. I know I will be going back in to try to get to the deeper parts of the island (I care more about my elemental level than the gear) and I hope that there are some secrets and powerful NMs to discover.

    My two constructive critisisms would be:

    A) Slightly tweak XP gain for the first couple of levels and make the curve slightly easier on the bottom end.

    B) Make XP fairer for tanks and healers, because from my experience we are getting 1/4 the XP that DPS are getting from the same effort

    Because this content has explicitly been eating into the other content developement cycles and the people who actively yearn for this sort of thing is even smaller than the number of people who made legitimate attempts at savage coil. And savage coil was already a huge waste of time for 99% of the playerbase. So it's cool that major patch features from here on out will only be devoted to random niches. Maybe one day my niche will be appealed to and I can finally finish that dinner date with Aymeric.

    As someone who did 2 HW relics before they nerfed any of the steps, the HW crystal farming via FATEs was far more bearable. At least you could level up other jobs on the side while farming FATEs in the different HW areas, and the drop rates, while low, were not abysmal. I got most of mine within a day; the only area that was a pain for my was Azys Lla, where I spent quite a bit of time in, but still got my drops faster than I am currently getting Protean Crystals.



    I’m trying to reserve judgment entirely until I get to a higher level in Eureka (currently level 4; had to log off because I’ve caught some bug and needed to lay down), but right now, I feel the disappointment. If only because this was delayed so many times, and it seems so lackluster for something that was delayed until now.

    My experience this morning wasn’t bad; I went in with two friends—we explored the map (got the mapping achievement, snuck around on NIN with Hide and explored every nook and cranny—the map is really pretty), and found areas to camp and endlessly kill mobs until we reached level 4. I did like how we had to be careful with some of our AOE skills (like Nastrond and Assize) to not risk pulling other mobs since we were just a group of 3 at the time, but the mindlessly spamming Stone IV was starting to get to me by the time I readied to log off (could just be because I’m sick, though). I did appreciate that the few times we ended up with 3~4 level 7 mobs, I had to actually go full-healer to keep up my friend tanking them. So those aspects were not entirely disappointing.

    We did the Cactuar NM FATE, which gave a nice chunk of EXP (for being level 2 at the time), 5 Lockboxes (2 Grade V Materia, a housing item, a sparkler—seriously, get rid of these damn things—and an Allagan Platinum Piece), and 3 Anemos Crystals (you can exchange these for a random number of the Protean Crystals by talking to Gerolt...I got 8 Proteans for my 3 Anemos; figured it would be good to exchange them since the number of Proteans you need compared to Anemos for the gear upgrades is mind-boggling).

    I do have some concerns though... mostly about the grind for gear that is already outclassed by other gear (Crafted/Sigma NM, Tomestone, and Savage). I understand relics are a grind, and I’m not complaining about the grinding aspect of Eureka. While I haven’t done any Zodiacs, I am currently working on my 6th and 7th Anima, and I did 3 of them in HW (2 pre any nerfs), so grinds don’t bother me. I’m concerned more about the fact that the rewards for the grind are already outclassed by gear easily obtainable via other means (Tomestones, Sigmascape NM, and Byakko). I feel like I would feel the gear would be more worth it if the pieces were at least i355/i360 (so, sort of on par with current Tomestone gear); I realize that they were never going to be i370, so my expectations were aimed at i355/i360 gear upgrades.

    The 5 guaranteed slots seems nice, but with the grind it takes to get there and the fact that you can get i350 crafted or i350 Sigma NM gear with less time and effort, makes me wonder how worth it the 5 guaranteed slots and dyeable aspects are. Obviously, i350 with guaranteed melding will be better than some of the crafted/Sigma gear if people care about the melding aspect and/or secondaries. But, as it stands now, none of the gear pieces are upgrades for my current jobs I play (BRD is geared in Savage gear, so I’m not talking about it really, but my healers and casters already have i350 gear and i355 weapons). The amount of crystals needed for each doesn’t make it a viable option for my other 70 jobs that I’m not currently gearing via Savage/Tomestone/Sigma NM (in my opinion).

    I do like the looks of the glowy weapons, as grindy as it may be. So I am working on grinding out at least my BRD stuff (weapon + armor) for now in the hopes that eventually, it will repeat similar phases that the previous relics had (i.e., customizing stats, and eventually becoming BiS by the end of the expansion), and make this worthwhile. Depending on how long it takes to get BRD done will depend on if I will venture and do entire sets for my other mains (healers/casters), or if I will just stick to weapons only and the few pieces that I want to be dyeable for Glamour (I do plan to do weapons for the jobs I play frequently). Hopefully things will ease up the more I level up in Eureka; I know they will probably go faster once I can play with more than just 2 of my friends...full party of 8 zerging + NM FATEs seems the best way to go as it is now.

    Trying really hard to keep an open mind with Eureka, and not let my current disappointment/dismay cloud my judgment too much. Even though I can’t help but ask why this took so long to release, and why it had to be delayed twice...

    I mentioned this in that one thread awhile back about JPN vs. NA, but I can see this as a reflection of their (our, since I'm Japanese/Chinese) culture. Inclusivity and communal aspects are really important, and a better UI to find friends is always helpful. I personally love Eureka, and to me, I see the people I may end up in a party with as potential friends who I may try to find to build a party with again later, or even cross server friend to form a 'Eureka static'. I think it is important to treat the people we meet and party with even for a little while as potential friends and not just as faceless NPCs who help us to get what we want faster and are disposable and completely forgettable.

    Do you have the statistic to back up the claim that this niche is smaller than savage coil? This content is certainly more accessible than that content.

    Also, Eureka is not the only reason we lost a dungeon, Yoshi P addressed this by saying that the amount of dungeons in the game is very high right now, and they are reducing the number of dungeons in any given expansion in order to slow this escalation. It's not as simple as Eureka = one less dungeon, there are many factors at play that make up the design decisions of the expansion.

    My own suggestions would be:

    - Make soloing feasible until level 5, at least, including the story quest.
    - Raise the exp values up to level 5, and slowly settle it down so that being in parties feel more beneficial as we progress, instead of when we're taking those first few steps.
    - Cut down the token requirement per weapon or gear by 80-90%. Most people are going to look at the initial drop rates and the requirements and probably say "No thanks" with how it is now.
    - Given the effort we put in, and given when this has come out finally, make damn sure that the weapons and gear reach i360 (for now), and actually have GOOD secondary stats for the given jobs (I'm looking at you, SkS on Pld sword).

    We are only represent 1/4 of FF14 population.
    This is not WoW where NA based Blizzard decides the gameplay for every other regions.
    Even that is a stretch in Chinese and Korean WoW where even Blizzard have to bend over.
    Chinese server, Korean sever and Japanese server all have a say in this.
