I will stay Culinarian but only because i like it but also because i have hopes it will improve.

Agreed. I myself haven't used food buffs yet other than to figure out what race likes what (The only thing I found as a Moon Keeper Miq'ote is a love for fish/shellfish) and it's also possible these 'researched' food buffs will play differently depending on race/class/what have you, so how can I be sure they are accurate or not? (Besides it being a player based means of information so there is always a chance for errors).
Example, a specific food gives a certain amount of HP across the board but for those the race/class favors, gets a much more substantial amount of HP than the rest, and maybe there's another food for another class that gives the base amount of HP but for MY class gives me the boost. Why would I buy and use the one that would give me a general amount when I could use a class specific/race specific food useful to me?
I can understand SE being worried about those spamming food buffs for those abusing them (I remember early on everyone drinking distilled water/boiled eggs/whatever) but Culinarians need a reason to be culinarians.

There is actually no possible way to abuse food buffs. You can have one food buff on at a time. If you eat another piece of food it over writes what you already had going. Short of hacking the game or there being a bug its just not possible.

Cooking "finished" items should allow touch-ups as well. Not sure why they left out Culinarian.

Just in terms of "what does this food do" for any Culinarian/Non-Culinarian, the link below shows/explains which stats/elemental affinities are required to get a boost from the food. There is "tasty," "delicious," and "divine" if I remember correctly.

I do agree that some base information should be on food like it is on gear, and then these "bonuses" you could achieve can be what the community spreads.

Yes friends, as a duo crafter fishing / cooking, I must say the dumbing down to the general public the food effects has been devastating to our craft. In another post, I described the that due to the battle system being unbalanced, there is no need for food, since attributes are already stacked in classes favors neways.
I critique the approach, maybe not necessarily the actual stats. But am I the only one that views the current food stats as a hodge podge of unthought out ways to cater to a already assumed 'dumb' player base?
The thought every stat I can find about food is simply a +5 boost to a certain attribute is an insult to the name 'culinarian'. I would hardly call an accomplished chef a master of the art when he produces tiers of 'big macs' and nothing else. Could we get some food that is actually intuitive like sushi was in FF11, where's the refinement?
In 11, we tiered food based on level and imparted a penalty if we ate food not intended for the required level. All I can see here is collection of say muffins designed for rank 10, rank 20 and so on. Whether this is a perception or a reality, giving no data on hidden attributes makes every piece of food a gesture in mediocrity.(but this game is that, unfortunately in many ways...)
If I am not seeing what you are seeing, Let me know but what I do know, is all I see is a recycling of the same food tailored for different ranks with the same stats and nothing else. It is quite insulting. Thank you^^

sound like Culinarian got it bad, today I'd decided to come here to read around cause of a mere whim of mine ... what can I say I've thought about buying food at one point but then I'd stopped thinking about it, don't know why.
It really is " just leave it all up to the players " "buy food? should I?", I'll look in to it next time in-game for sure.

I think it's a percentage-based stat increase depending on the affinity message: tasty, delicious, divine. The thought every stat I can find about food is simply a +5 boost to a certain attribute is an insult to the name 'culinarian'. The +HP foods work on a percentage, so I assume the stats work the same way too.

As a struggling Cul in game, one of the worst things right now is the lack of Synths to skill up on, that don't cost a fortune, I'm making Mulled tea atm, and it cost me just before the servers went down, 2 mil gil to buy the materials for 99 synthsand i know you'll all say go and level Botany, but I can't as I don't have the space at the moment for storing Materials, I also double up as the LS food bank, for LS members to dump all the food they get while leve levelling etc.
Aside form the neccessity for us to know what food effects we have on food, Finished products need to stack more than 12. We need to be able to hire more retainers, the prices of some of the materials needs balancing, I mean, who pays 2318Gil for a Bulb of Garlean Garlic, oh wait I do
All the food I make right now goes to the LS. Not very profitable, fingers crossed for the future.

Sea/River Sand 1-40+ no reason to grind on anything else. Like OP stated until it is fixed there is 0 return in CUL so grinding on anything other then free or cheap fish is a waste. Not saying level BOT just for Garlic, but you can get it pretty easily early on. You will find though that it's Black Pepper that is the hard one to get.
