So far, it seems like the type of content that I wanted. Something to do iwhen all the normal stuff is complete. My only real complaint is that the relic weapon and armor are just recolors..... its a lot of effort for a recolor

Aren't the first two-three steps usually always recolours? I recall ARR Relics being recolours until the Zodiac step came along.
To be fair, this is only the first step. I imagine it will look more unique as we progress.
As for the content itself. I don't know what people were expecting? Relics have always been a massive grind. Likewise, the ilvl is about where it ought to be otherwise they're invaliding Savage gear and rendering the next 24-man set DoA. I will say Eureka needs some tweaks, but I want to reverse judgment until I approach higher levels. If the drops improve, I'll have one less concern going forward. On the other hand, if by level 15, nothing really changes. That isn't a good sign.
The grind isn't the issue here, it's that the content is incredibly boring. A long grind that's interesting and engaging wouldn't be so bad. "Kill a septillion gazillion mobs" is the bad kind of grind.
THIS A MILLION TIMES!!!!! i ll grind for hundreds of hours if its even a little bit fun. No problem at all. but if after 2 hours i legit feel depressed about my life, there are some problems.
