It feels like some needless micromanagement. Why can't he just attack independently?

I feel like the design of Bahamut not attacking if you don't is there to make him more responsive. The issue with pets is their Que system that delays their skills when you tell them to use it. Akh Morn is way more responsive than any of the Egi skills. Can you imagine having Bahamut attack by himself? And trying to get Akh Morn off and having it delayed by 4-5 seconds. It would suck

Boy I can already picture an unresponsive Bahamut where a target will die soon (but not the others) and alas by the time you managed to get him to cast Akh Morn, the target is dead and the skill doesn't go, then he vanishes....or like sometimes galavanize is on CD but the skill never launched.
