First successful housing patch??

None that I ever played. This was a first after playing numerous MMOs. "Oh, you can't get one because there are none left within gameplay." lmao. The poster above described Balmung people clicking for hours trying to get a plot off timer makes me ill. No excuse for that BS in an MMO. This game is marketed as having housing as part of the available experience. If it's not available, it's fraud.

They're hundreds of houses available. They're probably more worlds with housing available than those without. People are choosing to give up one thing in the game to keep playing on their current server. But if they wanted to have a house on their account today they could have one.

I had two FC mates go through that exact process. One was able to get a house. The other gave up after a few hours and hasn't actually logged in since then

I find the Scarab Lord title from WoW to not be equivalent. Scarab Lord and the Black Qiraji mount are just vanity pieces. Housing in this game is actual content. Nothing prevents me at any point from trying to get the achievements from raiding or PVP. It's always available for me to try. But there are a lot of people that have the gil for a house, there just simply isn't one for them to buy.

Agreed and absolutely housing is content. In fact, Little Ladies Day is March 1 with yet another "housing" deco as a reward. No house?, tough poop, you are sol. I don't think so...You know, when I was working to get all the ponies for my "Tamer of Steeds" title if at the end the game told me I could not acquire Kirin because there were none left right now and I would have to click an object for hours and maybe I would get him and maybe not, I would of been out of game and on to another asap. Both contents are equally important to some players, I am one of them and I don't like fraudulent claims.

Changing servers, while logical, isn't quite as simple as you make it sound. Some people have put down roots, such as making friends and joining a good FC or static. Unless they're on a high pop server, chances are they'll luck into a house eventually if they keep an eye out. If not...hopefully more wards will keep being added fairly regularly.

As to the topic, I do consider this patch to be more successful than most, seeing as there's still houses available.

SE never heavily promoted housing but they mentioned as one of hundreds/thousands options you can have with the game. People are those who heavily wanted this option what is fine but then chose your server. I mean, if you go to already overcrowded server what do you expect to happen with housing - oh yes i know, lets blame SE because people alone decided to go on already full server. Even when SE blocked opening of new accounts on overcrowded servers people used a payed transfer to bypass this limitation. Then some of those people have a face to come here on forum and blame SE because they cant buy a house, while (probably) the server from where they transferred still have empty plots. You desperately want a house - transfer. Right now there are still servers with empty plots. I hope SE will one day have enough of this useless complains and just (en)force the split on overcrowded servers.

I agree with you that if someone decided to join an already overcrowded server they really only have themselves to blame for not having a house. But like I said already, transferring isn't so simple for people. Whether it be friends, money, or a plethora of other reasons some people simply wish to stay. That's fine, but...housing will always be an issue on high pop servers. So...it's a matter of figuring out what one's priorities are and if you can deal with the consequences of them.

Now if they added instanced housing? That would alleviate the demand a ton. This patch did a decent job on most servers, but more could still be done.

I suspect you aren't looking at promotional materials.

Go to the Square Enix store and look at the blurbs for the game products. Those are promotional materials. Housing is listed but I wouldn't call it heavily promoted considering it's near the bottom of the bullet points.

Go to the trailers for the various patch releases. Trailers are promotional material. Housing is sometimes included, sometimes is absent. When it is included, it's buried toward the end of the trailer in a 5-10 second segment. That's not heavy promotion. Heavy promotion would be putting it at the beginning of the trailer and giving it a substantial amount of trailer time.

If you look go to the Lodestone and look at the Play Guide, you won't even see housing listed. You have to click on Game Features then scroll down to the bottom of the banner list to find a small plain looking banner for the link to housing information. That's not heavily promoting something.

Patch notes are not promotion materials. They are information to current players about what changes to expect when they first log in after a patch release.

Because housing is important to you, you pay special attention to when its mentioned. Perhaps that's how you get the perception it's heavily promoted even though it isn't.

You could be right and i think SE should make special treatment for people willing to transfer from overcrowded server to server with less population. Now to make it clear i dont know what you are allowed to take with you so if there is some limitation it would be good for SE to increase those limitations but not to the point to endanger the economy of the end server. I'm not even sure if this is available but the transfer should be free if you are going to move all your characters from the overpopulated server.
But you know what, even if SE is going to do this i bet whatever you want that only few people will take this offer and the rest will still be here complaining because of Balmung and their culture of entitlement.
