Anything put into the dresser should become a jobless level 1 glam. No more level or job requirements for items in the dresser.
That tiny change can fix the majority of the issues.
... not really. This makes the people who want to cross job glamour happy and resolves no other complaints of limited capacity or location of usability OR functionality on individual items without plates...
It's something people want , yes, but it doesn't solve other concerns.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
It allows you to build say 1 tank set and use it across multiple tank jobs or 1 DPS or 1 caster set or even one crafter or gathering set. Keeping the current job requirements makes it impossible to share a look across multiple jobs of similar function... and to be honest I would rather see a Paladin in Dragoon armor than a Paladin in a black bikini with a Chocobo mascot head.... not really. I'm not sure SE can give us 1 sheet for every job which leave many of us only using items with no requirements to fill multiple jobs.

I could be wrong about how it worked but for instance i play red mage and black mage a lot. My glamours were set to fit red mage so i made a black mage plate and once applied it was basically my glamour forever until i manually fixed it again
That and the perception of unique/mogstation gear being lost forever even if all it is for is glamour kind of made the dresser dead on arrival for me. All it got is my makai sets which is whatever since salvager.
Personally i like that jobs have unique gears that let them stand apart in the glamour world so that much doesn't bother me at all so making it usable for me means
1) uniqe/mogstation gear gets a spot in armoire or added to salvager as you get it, even if just for peace of mind it's still important to me
2) plates become an equippable item. Even if you can only equip them in the designated safe zones automating the glamour change so your classes actually look how they want is important to me. I kind of thought the whole point of this was so classes that share sets could have different looks
those are the big ones for me and after that some more plates/space and especially a furnishing for homes
You already can do that. My own plate 1 is my caster set and it applies to RDM, BLM and SMN just fine. Glamour items in the dresser retain their original job applicability. The only items that lock to one specific job are weapons and AF gear.It allows you to build say 1 tank set and use it across multiple tank jobs or 1 DPS or 1 caster set or even one crafter or gathering set. Well, that's basically what the existing system already does. The advantage of the new system is that you get 200 extra inventory spaces for gear items, provided you were only ever going to use those items for glamour (which, to be fair is true for most stuff that's held onto) and you also don't have to carry your glamour items around or get them off retainers or apply them one at a time when you get new gear.
The following macro line:2) plates become an equippable item. Even if you can only equip them in the designated safe zones automating the glamour change so your classes actually look how they want is important to me. I kind of thought the whole point of this was so classes that share sets could have different looks
/gearset change <gear set number> <glamour plate number>
will simultaneously change to a specific gear set and apply a specific glamour plate. It's a bit of a workaround solution, but they have said they're working on allowing you to save the plate as part of the gear set so that'll be cleaned up in future.

We are all made of star stuff
I'm a glamour freak and I actually really like the Glamour Dresser. My only real problem with it is - and maybe someone can help if I've missed a trick - you can't filter the glams by class. I play PLD, BRD, and AST, so I have glamours for three different classes, meaning if I want to create a new glam, I have to hover over every piece of glam to see which class it's for. Really takes a lot of time when you've got about 40 different chest pieces.
This, infact!
ya its pretty terrible
