Which was a problem because you can't link just the glamour of an item, you have to link the item you used for the glamour.

Which was a problem because you can't link just the glamour of an item, you have to link the item you used for the glamour.
The problem comes about when you obtain new glamour gear and you want to use it in the dresser. Once you reach the 200 item limit, you're basically forced to destroy something if you want to add something new. That's probably the main reason why people are hesitant to add mogstation items.
To alleviate this, they either need to make the dresser unlimited or add a way to remove items so you can swap things in and out. I'd prefer the latter, as people have mentioned concerns regarding linking items, trying the gear on with proper in-game lighting and angles, etc. Simply making it so that you can remove items would fix all of these issues, and the 200 item limit would no longer be much of a concern. Of course, I wouldn't complain if they fixed both of these things...
I've used the glamour dresser with some items from my armoire and some trivial things (like the Emperor's New gear) and it works quite nicely imo. I'd like to use it more. But my main glamours are still done manually because of the limitations.

I get it but it's still silly. The problem comes about when you obtain new glamour gear and you want to use it in the dresser. A: " I don't like it so I'll just do it the old way" -> Does the old way
B: " I reached 200 but I don't want to destroy anything, so I'll just keep my item and do it the old way" -> Does the old way
Either way the solution to not having to destroy anything is to go to the old way, but person A doesn't use the dresser fully or at all while person B gets to use up 200 slots and then go to the old way for extra items.
To ignore it completely, like some people do, because of the limit just seems silly as you never HAVE to destroy anything since both ways of applying glamours coexist.
Of course if they add more or allow removing that'd be great, and I'd love that (and it sounds like they're working on the "removing" solution, at least from the live letter it sounded like it), but it doesn't change the silliness of fearing destroying something you never actually really have to destroy as long as you realize that you can use both systems in tandem, because the glamour system itself has not changed, only its storage & application.

You do have a point, but I suppose the idea of a hybrid system doesn't appeal to me; it feels clunky and cumbersome to think about. This might be just us having different mentalities around this.
I was thinking about some of the limitations that make me wary of using the dresser to the full extent, and I thought I'd list the ones that bother me in the interest of talking them out. I'd LOVE to be given a reason to set aside these worries so that I can fully utilize this system.
1. Inability to preview items outside of an inn. If I get a new glamour piece, I want to try it on with some of my old glamours. I suppose I could do it with pieces that are already glamoured, but for those items sitting in the dresser not on plates, I have to go to the inn and use the 'try on' feature or add it to a plate and overwrite something temporarily. It feels needlessly clunky, when I can simply equip things if they're in my armory or inventory and run around in them immediately to see how they feel together.
They've said they're thinking of adding the ability to do single piece glamours directly from the dresser. That should help a little - and creating a dresser for houses will help a little more, because I really don't like having to go to the inn so much. But no word on that second one so far.
2. Limitations on where glamours can be applied. Currently, if I get a new piece as a drop or out in the field, I can reapply my glamour at will. Plates don't allow this. I really don't want to lose this flexibility. They've already mentioned that they're going to focus on increasing the number of plates rather than increasing the locations that they can be applied at. Maybe they'll lift this restriction in the future, but that's completely up in the air at this point.
3. Squadron glamours. I know they said they're working on it, but there's no word on when that will happen. I don't want to throw things in the glamour dresser now and then decide I want to use something on a squad member and be SOL until they implement this change.
Being able to remove things from the glamour dresser would alleviate these concerns for me, because I'd have options. Right now it feels absolute: I put something in the dresser and that's it, I can't go back to the old way unless I re-obtain that piece of gear. I'm far too anxious for that, and glamour gear is important to me. If I knew I could recover it, I'd be happily storing items and using plates freely.
Maybe you're right and this perspective is a little silly, but that's how I honestly feel.

Nah those 3 things sound like good, well-written concerns. Like you said, it might just be different mentalities. To me it doesn't feel clunky to use both and those particular limitations don't bother me, but I can see why they might bother someone else.
I haven't thought about squadrons at all since I don't glamour mine and therefore have no idea how squadron glamours work. I know for retainers it's easy enough to use plates for them since you just wear the gear yourself, apply plate, then hand it off. Is it different for squadron?

I do wish you retained the ability to use /isearch with items in the dresser.
Squadrons have their own glamour interface that can only pull from actual items. They don't have a character panel like the retainers. There is no current way to apply anything other than the traditional system to them unfortunately.Nah those 3 things sound like good, well-written concerns.
