I'd prefer to see more original jobs so the devs aren't stuck trying to square peg an existing idea of a class into a round hole.

I want to be a Beastmaster
It doesn't necessarily have to be similar to Summoner, but even if you have the beast alongside you but you fight with its aura or something, that way you wouldn't need to micromanage a pet.
What would be really cool is if we could harness Allagan technology and power their mechanical creations to fight for us - like the servitor minotaur or servitor chimera in Aetherochemical Research Facility HM.
DNC was never meant to be a tank though in FFXI (and this is actually confirmed by the development team itself, like NIN never was meant to be one either) - it was actually intended to be a healer/support Job (it did have a hate-generating Provoke-like 'Flourish' ability though, but that was more meant for when the Job was subbed, making it an excellent subjob for tanks like WAR). I still would love to see DNC added to FFXIV though.
GEO is literally already CNJ though (besides CNJ already being GEO gameplay wise, lore wise geomancy is literally what conjury is called in the Far East, so it's redundant).
Although I totally agree with you on how tiresome and groanworthy it is to see people say 'gunblade user!', and there are even more reasons why it shouldn't or cannot be added:
a) Gunblades are actually a very rare weapon type manufactured by the Garlean Empire and even then they are only given to the elite troops like Centurions and Legatee (this is why Fordola being given a gunblade was such a big deal story wise), so the regular rank and file troops (who are mostly draftees from subject nations like Doma and Ala Mhigo) never use them, let alone 'primitive' Eorzeans.
b) FFXIV gunblades are nothing like the FFVIII version that people want - Squall and Seifer's gunblades in FFVIII were basically just swords with a gun-shaped rumble pack attached. FFXIV gunblades however are generally pistols with an elongated bayonet attached to the side of the barrel and are more used as ranged weapons, save for truly unique weapons used by several Legatee/Tribunes like Nael's gunhalberd Bradmante, and that weird gunhammer Nero has (I think the only time I've ever seen a Garlean use a gunblade as a sword was when Nero killed that Ala Mhigan double-agent early in the game, every other time they use them as guns)
And finally c) there technically already are gunblades being used, as weapons with existing classes and Jobs - Lightning's gunblade from FFXIII the Blazefire Sabre is a low-level weapon for GLA/PLD (it's just a fancy sword with a fold out blade, the gun part is non-functional), and several 'matchlock' or 'knifelock' type guns for MCH are technically gunblades in that they have an enlarged blade on the end of the barrel, much larger than a regular bayonet.
I don't think that's accurate. The closest he's come to rejecting jobs would be like PUP and BST "not even considering" them at the time he was asked, which doesn't mean they can't be considered later on. iirc for BLU he thought aloud about how it might fit and toyed with the idea of it being a single-player-only job. My guess is they will find a way to balance and implement BLU into party content without damaging its identity too much because it's by far the most prolific classic job of the ones they've yet to add.
Blue Mage as a Tank.
I love this idea. I can just see it now. A Blue Mage could wear enchanted armor and wield some type of magical weapon, perhaps a variety of magical weapons. They could use magic to increase enmity and defense. Toss in a couple of really cool attacks learned from enemies and it could be right up there with the other tanking classes. I could see tweaking the armor with different materia to test the results would be fun.
Since a Blue Mage historically learns the abilities of monsters, then I see no shortage of fun class quests here. Go out, find this monster (Titan), use your "learn" ability, kill the monster... now you can use "MOUNTAIN BUSTER" on Odin.
Obviously that won't happen. I just wanted to use mountain buster as an example.
I think it would be pretty cool!
Uhm... where have you been when Hydrus fought against us? "Bastard" is, as the name implies, a bastard sword with a gun attached. Nero uses his as melee weapon as well in the Sigma/Deltascape duties, much like Fordola did with hers for the most part, as did Gaius. The classic melee gunblade skill they all use is called "Innocence", it's spammed a lot when they aren't dashing around using other gadgets or terminus est. I can't remember fighting any "standard" soldier with one (the centurions tend to wear regular swords), but I wager those aren't deemed important enough to be given special skills to showcase the weapon.
I also find the argument of "it's rare!" fairly weak, considering we are probably the only non-padjali white mage in existence, one of like eleven living dragoons and the second azure dragoon to boot, the only person with a fairy around, the only person on the planet capable of summoning demi-bahamut since the times of allag, the only living monk with 14 unlocked chakras and, uh... let's just say something being 'rare' never stopped us.
I mean, I don't particularly care for a gunblade job one way or the other, but the arguments are meh at best.

I've already made my requests known in a previous "what future jobs do you want to see?" thread, but I'll state them here too.
First and foremost, since the DPS job section got all the love for Stormblood, and if the developers intend to stick to two jobs per expansion pack from here on, the next two jobs had better be a Tank and a Healer respectively. Despite the fact that some people claim that DPS is the only thing that matters and thus insist on only asking for DPS jobs, there ARE people out there who like the Tank and Healer roles, and they too don't like to have their roles neglected. Me being one of them, as I'm far more often running dungeons and other roulettes as a Tank or a Healer. I want more diversity in the roles I'm often playing as please.
With that said, my choice of next healer still strongly remains the same: Dancer. Dancer's inclusion as a healer would really shake things up for the healer role section, being the first TP based melee healer. I'm still fond of the idea that the weapon of choice for Dancer should be some form of bladed cloth, finally giving the Weavers a type of weapon to craft. And if Yoshi-P's comment is anything to go by, it sounds like Dancer is already on its way too, given that his comment for not including the job yet was because he basically said "I want to get it juuuussstttt right." Maybe the development team is putting a bit of extra animation work into Dancer and making some differences between male and female characters using the job?
So if Dancer is already on its way (hopefully as a healer), the real question is... what's going to be the next Tank?
For the next Tank, I'd like to see Blue Mage. It'd put a color mage in every job section for starters. And, as a bit of rework for the job (much like what happened to say... DRK), I can't help but see Blue Mage as the type of mage that actually gets its kicks off of being attacked, and then smiting the enemies with some unique mechanics to the job that involve being attacked. However, if Yoshi-P's comment is anything to go by, we may not get Blue Mage for quite some time. So if Blue Mage isn't likely for the next expansion... maybe we'll get that "unique to FFXIV" job Yoshi-P wants as our next Tank?
If so, then I'd like the next Tank to be a Magitek Knight. Two ways this could be approached to me, and I'll number them off even.
1: The sword using varient, complete with the idle combat stance that characters like Gaius and Nero use when standing still. I'd love this varient to be the proper Evasion Tank I so badly want for this game. I've said in other threads that the biggest draw to DRK for me back in Heavensward for me was because DRK had "Dark Dance" back then, and combined with the right Dark Arts combos, it became a hell of an evasive tank in large mob pulls. When they took Dark Dance away in Stormblood, the job just hasn't been the same for me since. (And I've gone back to PLD being my main tank) So if this job came out like this, I'd drop PLD faster then you could say "ohmaigod!" and become the proper evasion Tank I've always wanted to be in this game. Though I'd keep PLD around as my second go-to tank for future runs. I admit... I'm spoiled by that Hallowed Ground buff, along with the amount of utility PLD brings.
2: The Warhammer varient. This would at long last give us another Blunt type weapon, which would have all the MNK jobs out there cheering. I also imagine this varient being the more offensive type of Tank, similar to WAR. I don't have much thought put into how the Warhammer varient would work out aside from being a new Blunt weapon type job, but it'd certainly be nice to flatten enemies with a big old hammer. :P
And that's about it. Dancer is honestly the only classic job left that I REALLY want to see in this game, and I sincerely hope it's a healer. And I'd just appreciate the idea of a new tank to go along with Dancer too. I'll cross my fingers that no matter what job it is, one of those jobs out there eventually takes up the role of being a proper Evasion Tank.
If we get a mysterious third job for the next expansion, chances are it'll be a DPS, similar to how Heavensward worked out. I have no suggestions for a new DPS job because quite frankly, I feel we have enough DPS jobs for now. (If you do the math, the total number of DPS jobs outweighs both Tank and Healer jobs COMBINED)

Puppetmaster as DPS.
Zenos is seen using a gunblade as a sword in one of the visions that Warrior of Light have in the new quests, right by the end of the questline (maybe even the last quest). He drops it and takes another prize from those he defeated though.
And every single foot soldier I can think of that is a Garlean fights with magic or in melee, not shooting. Some of them must have gunblades, seeing as you fight high-ranking ones here or there during special instances.
There's also Cid, a genius engineer from Garlemald, which could just make this "rare" stuff if the main character asked him to. Or Nero. I mean, if he can be hired by Ironworks Jessie, he wouldn't have anything against making a Gunblade for the Warrior of Light either.I also find the argument of "it's rare!" fairly weak, considering we are probably the only non-padjali white mage in existence, one of like eleven living dragoons and the second azure dragoon to boot, the only person with a fairy around, the only person on the planet capable of summoning demi-bahamut since the times of allag, the only living monk with 14 unlocked chakras and, uh... let's just say something being 'rare' never stopped us.
That being said, all I care about is that the next expansion brings a healer, ideally Dancer, and a tank, ideally not dancer.
