AST is basically healer Time Mage, though. The Astrologians in the tower south of Dragonhead even have the hat.
Although fans would be a PERFECT weapon for Dancer.

I'd like to see the classic Thief. We could finally have traps and trapped chest in dungeons like we do for PotD that this job would have the skill to find/remove. The thief also has the bonus of being a staple Final Fantasy class. of course, the ability to use gil as a projectile must be included haha!
If we were to add a tank I'd suggest Hospitaller, a knight who uses shield and flail.
I don't think we need another healer or tank though.
Some sort of DoM tank. DRK is kinda sorta workable, but I want to be casting magic all the time.
Yoshi did say he wanted a FFXIV original job, so fingers crossed.
Yup, referring to this:iirc for BLU he thought aloud about how it might fit and toyed with the idea of it being a single-player-only job. My guess is they will find a way to balance and implement BLU into party content without damaging its identity too much because it's by far the most prolific classic job of the ones they've yet to add.
I also believe he mentioned in either an address or interview right before the announcement of Samurai for Stormblood something along those lines, but in a more negative mood regarding the possibility of the job actually happening in XIV. As cool as it would be to see it, the major hurdle to it is that there's just no realistic way they could please the XI purists while making the job practical to a substantially more balanced MMORPG.I think that blue mage is an interesting job because you can learn spells from enemies, but honestly I don't think that it really fits MMORPG party settings. If anything, I think it would work solo and it would be really fun to implement it as a job where you go around and learn abilities from every monster, so I'd definitely like to try and do this, but I'm concerned when it comes to playing in a party players would put up barriers if you haven't learned certain abilities. Additionally, in the event you are able to use abilities forever once you learn them, the difficulty of learning abilities would be high, and we wouldn't be able to balance the system so it wouldn't revolve around procuring your abilities instead of equipment. This wouldn't be practical enough to fit in an MMORPG party setting and conversely if you are swapping in only certain abilities you've learned, the true image of a blue mage would diminish, so this is something that I am concerned with.
....then again, it wouldn't be the first time they've upset that fringe of the community (DRK as a tank, SAM as a DPS, probably the game in general), so keep it coming SE!
An actual hybrid.
...And all the implications allowing for it would entail...
Blitz. They would kick the ball at the enemy, have an built in conal stun move and could silence enemies by laughning. It would also be the final nail in the coffin for Time Mage since they would get Haste, so they could laugh even more.
In all seriousness I already have Red Mage, the only other job I would like would be for us to learn how to fight with the garlean Gunblade and use similar abilities to the Legatus characters. I'd also like it to be a tank, with its super CD ability being going Golden like Gaius in Prae, where the more Ceruleum you have (the gauge for the job), the longer it can go upto 10 seconds at full, with any ability that use Ceruleum not using any for the duration. Also for them to have a flash step move as their gab closer, a part of me thinking it would chain with a ranged shot that "marks" a target so when they use the ability it instead does slightly more damage and automatically moves you behind said target.

Yeah I feel they have to make some concessions to fit BLU into this framework and probably will. To me at least it would feel weird to pass on that job when so many FF games either have it as an option or a certain character who can use enemy skills. I think of all the jobs that are very prolific across the series, this is the only one we're missing in xiv now. Or they could put some of its characteristics into a new job with a different name, adapting monster skills a different way.
Yeah, I don't actually think time mage will happen but I still want them. Mostly though I want a job that uses crossbows, maybe they could add beastmaster and give them a crossbow and call them Hunters instead.
Technically Red Mage is a hybrid since they made it a fencer. One could argue that it is using magic instead of physical attacks with the fencing, and you would be right, but mechanically speaking Void Ark begs to differ. Red Mage does need to build up mana first though so it isn't an equal parts fighter and magician, so I suppose wanting one that is equal parts fighter and magician isn't a bad thing lol
Guildmaster of Power With Numbers (PWN) on Coeurl in Aether.
