Relocating ignores the random timer - so if he gives up his personal house (or relocates it, I'd expect there are other houses on Zalera still open?), you can relocate the FC-house to that plot immidiatly.
Oh wow, really??
Are you 100% sure about this? I'd hate to tell him that if it were not the case. To be honest it sounds just as easy to abuse if it is so I'm kind of confused... (As in resellers can still resell, but just to people who already have homes they dislike)

The other sad part is the fact that he and I spent weeks decorating the house, using the floating wall trick for most things so to redo it is kind of a daunting thought. e___e; If we could just switch it over that would be much nicer.... :'(

As for selling the FC - well...i guess if your THAT desperate to get a house....seems like a lot of work to go through...but people will do weird things. It only took me and my partner 72 hours to get rank 6 to buy a house...from the moment we started our FC...prob would have done it sooner in fact. Just needed the gil and the will to farm gear for GC Seals.

There are legitimate and FAIR situations where people will sell a house without resorting to extortion or exorbitant prices. But the abuse possibility is too high.

Honestly the direction SE is taking his is likely going to help balance things out. No its not perfect...but its better than it was before.
I agree, it's a tough situation where abuse is hard to prevent. I understand that they're doing what they can and overall I think it's great but it's a bit frustrating for people who actually aren't trying to abuse it. I think, personally, they should just have some kind of system in place that flags accounts for review when certain conditions are met. Such as: Buying several houses on multiple servers and relinquishing ownership of them within 3 months, Buying any house and relinquishing it within 3 months, An FC with less than X members purchasing a house and then either relinquishing or changing ownership of the FC within 3 months, etc. Investigate these situations; if the new owner of the FC/house recently has done a large transaction of any sort this should be obvious.

I think there are a lot of ways to help prevent this. I think the best step was definitely to lock 1 house per server per service account, beyond that I don't think what they've done is bad at all - many people suggested things such as this. But an automated system I think could work well too while allowing a bit more freedom for legitimate players. I have also known several people who have gifted houses.... it's such a kind gesture. It's sad that such a thing won't really be feasible anymore. :/
