Also a huge annoyance is that for whatever reason they have deemed it necessary to restrict the changing of the glam plates to not be changeable out in the world. I can't even begin to fathom what the thinking behind such a unnecessary and incredaly inconveniencing restriction was implemented. Tbh it literally defeats much of the purpose to even have these plates as to change anything in the world (which I am sure many of us do) you still need to carry a doublicate item and glam prisms in your inventory and change it the old way. This restriction really needs to go, NOW.
Hey no I'm not forgetting that ofc, the thing is you get way more fashion options in GW2 and WoW for plate/cloth/leather armors which INDEED made me forget that they also have fashion restrictions . Since you can have beautiful non-casual/non-immersion breaking cloth-like gear when you're a warrior for example in GW2 if you don't have the skins from cash shop (seriously the Nord culture plate armor for females IS NOT PLATE MAIL LOL SO MUCH CLOTH).
Thank you for correcting me, ill have to use different MMO examples such as RIFT, Blade and Soul, SWTOR and Perfect World International that do have a universal fashion wardrobe, albeit with minimal race restrictions instead of class. I've never said every mmo besides FF14 has better fashion systems. But there are some MMOs with much lower budgets that trump FF14 in this category. I hope it will get better... the budget for this game is high so it probably will![]()

Thank you, I completely agree. I'm not a coder, or sure as hell a programmer. but these kind of restrictions are tedious and frustrating... Maybe they will implement what you've said since it already existed in the previous final fantasy MMO. HOPE <3
From what I've gathered on this...
For the system to be considered 'functional' in my eyes.
We need at least 35~40 plates, to cover every class and have some extra for miscellaneous sets.
Be able to apply plates anywhere.
Improvements to the system include...
More commode storage.
The armoire keeping an item's dye information.
Tying certain plates to gearsets.
The ability to restore items flushed down the glamor commode.
Even more plates than I stated as necessary.
A housing option for the commode.
Possibly more, but that's what's coming to mind right now.

Why would you wear the same healer outfit as a tank when there are specific glamour plates you can assign to each role? And you don't have to glamour either. lol makes no sense.... Yes, e.g, I don't want to play with a tank wearing the same healer outfit I'm using during that duty, it might never happen but without restrictions to glamours it's a possibility and as***les would do that precisely to bother anybody else!...
If you want unrestricted glamours then we must also get an option to disable glamours on every other player in the game so they will show what they are actually wearing and nothing else!...
I do agree with the Client-side option to disable glamours. There is a similar option in the old school mmo Perfect World International where you can disable all customisation and characters wear their default class gear.
What we are trying to tell you is, even if the restrictions aren't lifted there will always be LOTS OF people in non-immersive glamours.

Turning off the people in underwear and chocobo suits sounds like a nice option, but just disabling glamours isn't the solution - especially when genuine leveling equipment like the harness/subligar sets exist! On the flipside of that issue, I'm only willing to use that equipment because I've glamoured something more decent over it, and I certainly don't want other players to see my character wearing it!
Having everyone in predetermined class gear might work, although on the other hand the job gear sets are a clue as to what level of players you're actually paired with in your Lv15 dungeon...
What is the current restriction with plates and cross job glams?
Honestly I do feel like the only reason to why our system is so complicated to work with glamours is the fact Final Fantasy might be the only MMO (as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong) that allows you to have every single class in the game with the same character. So, in theory, your SCH set and your WHM set count as two different characters that happen to be using the same gear. Lifting that restriction might require a type of coding that can be troublesome. On other games, the "glamour layer" works on a "If equiped with A, overlay as B". But on our current system that would have to be coded as "If equiped with A, overlay as B, unless class is set to X, then overlay as C". Limitations. The whole glamour problem wouldn't be that much of an issue if you could only pick one class per character, instead of having one character with 25 classes.
