I didn't get to try out the system before servers went down... Does anyone know if we can use the new system to.. lets say, wear the crafting weaver gear on a battle class or no? Sorry if its a silly question.

Having visited Japan recently, this was something that really surprised me. At the end of the trip there were a lot of "aha" moments when looking over some of SE's decisions in this game because the culture of doing things is just so different.
I'll give you my example, the Eorzea Cafe. You had to buy the tickets online, in Japanese only, which are emailed to you. You cannot use this email for anything else. When you get to Japan, you have to go find a certain shop to print paper tickets. You can't print tickets at home, only from this one shop. You can only print these tickets once at the shop so if you lose them, they're gone, even though you still have the email confirmation. When you get to the cafe, you give them your paper tickets and they check you against a paper list and they give you more paper to order your free drinks. They then give you and iPad (???) menu to order the rest of your food. The iPad doesn't have English options, so you get given a paper English menu to use to order on your Japanese only iPad.
This experience wasn't limited to the Eorzea Cafe, just to be clear, it was literally everything we had to book in advance.
I'm very very lucky my partner is fluent in Japanese because it was a weirdly convoluted run around, much more convoluted than simple digital ticketing or ordering should have been.
In regards to this Glamour fiasco, what was a incredibly simplistic idea has been twisted into an awful chain of burning hoops designed for us to jump through and there is just seemingly no reason it, no matter how much everyone bleats about server limitations and such.

We really need like 30 or 50 plates minimum for this new glam system :x
This is genuinely disappointing...

I agree, there should be a plate ZERO or something to restore your gear to its original state.
The only use for this that I've seen is that you can create standard template ensembles, glamour your gear all at once, and save on prisms when doing the same glamour on different clothing. In the end you'll spend less on prisms because of it, and you'll save some time not having to apply the glam on each individual piece of gear but its usefulness is still limited.
I REALLY would like it to accept armoire/event item gear too. >.< I mix and match with that stuff all the time and that certainly cuts the usefulness of the new feature considerably.
(Ifrit) Dipped them in lava like gravy and bread. Oh heck that bed, oh heck that bed.

It is supposed to be able to access the stuff in your armoire without needing to put that stuff in your dresser.I agree, there should be a plate ZERO or something to restore your gear to its original state.

SE tends to introduce new systems then build on them like they did with the perform function. I wouldn't be too quick to give up on this system already. There are potential changes that could greatly improve the system. Hell even a bunch more plates would make the system far more viable for people with a lot of jobs levelled.

Didn't delve too deep into the glamour plate thing, so... do glamour dispel prisms not work for glamour plates?
I need to dabble with my level 10rog which I couldn't care about any armour for, that way nothing goes to waste.
Also... :/ things like the antiquated gear given to you for your 70 job quests... have they put that anywhere that can be rebought in game? =___= I didn't think it through when sticking my pretty clothes in the dresser.
And to make it worse some reported that you cant use the old system with the new one...so you kinda have to put every glamour item that you want for those three jobs in the dresser which has a limit and destroys the items..no thank you I will stick with the old system..I am truly surprised how they could see this as a good system and on top of that give us the limitation for the dresser and only ten plates..
Funny how they never truly mentioned that problem in the liveletter...

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

I think perhaps what it would need is a "dispel glamour" item that you can place onto any slot in the glamour plate, that removes glamour from that slot's equipped gear when the plate is applied.
