I wasn't trying to point out bad phrasing, i want him to reconfirm in real Words what he means.
What he said literally means that the Combo system IS a replacement for Battle regimes.
Did you even read the second sentence in that paragraph lol? If you read the whole paragraph you would clearly see that it stated "To view this as an entirely new system". So to even ask if this is a replacement just shows poor reading comprehension because you didn't even bother to read the whole paragraph before asking your question.
It would be best if you could look at them as an entirely new system.
I think he meant to say are not replacment for the BR system (but thats my interpretation). I can't imagine they wouldnt be planning on some sort of team related combo/skillchain/BR in the longer term.
Bayohne just contradicted himself twice in the same sentence! For shame.
FFXIV Forums...the forums that keep on giving. Amazing lol. It's not a replacement, but a new system. Bayo, I think you need to start typing in call caps![]()
In standard written English, when two negatives are used in one sentence, the negatives are understood to cancel one another and produce a weakened affirmative. However, in many dialects, the second negative is employed as an intensifier and should be understood as strengthening the negation rather than removing it.
Unfortunately the last statement, "It would be best if you could look at them as an entirely new system." does not entirely clear up the confusion as an "entirely new system" can still be a replacement for the old system or it could be an entirely new system alongside the entirely new system that replaces the old one.
"It's a separate system" may have been a better choice if it is indeed an entirely new system. ;>P
Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.
This much we know, I simply wish to have more information on what exact direction they plan to take with it, instead of "we are considering a ... system" or "it will be implemented in the future" vague type answers.
I never asked for it to be here now, I am aware of how a MMORPG or any bigger game goes trough development and that some things will come before others and progress trough patches. They can't implement everything all in one patch. That's too much work. They gotta start somewhere. The battle system is slowly being iterated upon. You can see the progression we've had so far in 1.17 > 1.18 > 1.19 and the gradual adjustments to gameplay. Just be patient.
Patience I have plenty, but curiosity more so, all I'm asking for here is if theres any information to be had from the devs for the future of party based combos/br/sc whatever you choose to call it.
Like I said, self combos does'nt excite me much, but I'm fairly sure it wont take away from the game either and as stated I will wait and see how it plays out before passing any judgement on said system. :>
