Why cant we get a dedicated RP server?

Basically, this. I believe the community decided that Balmung was THE top RP server; I am not sure if that's what the devs intended. But like the poster above me said, every server has an RP community - some may not be nearly a large as others, but there's some form of RP in all of them. I think part of the reason why SE won't make a dedicated server is...well...you already see what's happening with Balmung, and what had happened with Gilgamesh for some time. Their servers may not be able to handle the load.

What about the servers that say legacy. RP would be a lot shorter than legacy. Also not every server is an RP server. I can tell you the last time I saw some RP on Adamantoise....it’s never.

If I recall, the Legacy servers are exclusive to players who have been there since 1.0. I don't think Square wants to force open their server because..well...it's a Legacy server.

They're not exclusive to us 1.0 people. They're labeled Legacy cause they were the original 1.0 servers where 1.0 characters were made. You can still make new characters on them.

A vast amount of legacy players were driven OFF of their own servers, because of the congestion and flooding. We're all very salty about it too, considering we'd been there for at least half a decade :/ Waiting in queue for over six hours because of the vast quantity of players is not cool. It's like, being kicked out of your home by squatters.

Edit: I get that everyone there is in the same queue boat, but... /salt we were there first!

The legacy servers were the ones that were created in 1.0, but you could always create new characters on them (except when they were locked due to overpopulation) as all my friends who joined the game in 2.0 did just that to start on my server.

Initially you could only transfer to/from other legacy worlds, but that restriction was removed a long time ago.

These days the legacy tag on a server doesn't really mean anything and personally I'm surprised they still refer to them as legacy servers.

(I started on Saronia in 1.0 which got merged with Lindblum to become Sargatanas in 2.0 and 4 years later I moved to my current home, Omega)
