Viera as the next new race~ Show your support

Right. I totally get that there’s a line there, and depending on the direction SE goes should they move to create a, let’s say, “youthful” race, things could get a little dicey. I don’t appreciate loli-culture in the slightest and character design that feeds into that doesn’t deserve to make it into this game, for sure.

I guess my mindset is, looking at that Viera concept art, the second set doesn’t have to look that childish in-game, were it to be a subrace option. I don’t want characters that look like tweens sexed up in my game, but we could still have a smaller-statured race as long as it was done appropriately. I certainly wouldn’t mind a thin, less muscular and smaller “fem” male character option for the sake of variety (and since basically no other game lets you make a character like that at all, despite how popular and rampant it is in Japanese character design), and they shouldn’t have to look like outright children either.

I don't like loli-culture either, but I don't think "looks like children" = "being children," especially since we already have freaking Lalafell (unless you have a problem with them, too). I don't think the majority of people who would appreciate the smaller, "cuter" iteration of a new race are advocating for playing as children per sé, but simply like/want a smaller, more lithe-bodied option to play as, especially since that option doesn't exist for any male characters of any race (barring Lalafell, who are...a bit more than just small and lithe lol).

Not to mention, what exactly do you mean when you say "children"? If you're talking about any character that is "underage," then I guess you must have a problem with 16-year old Alphinaud and Alisae (who, might I add, are extremely small-statured for mid-late teenaged Elezen). And like...a vast portion of main characters, male and female, in the entire Final Fantasy series. I mean, if that is the case, then that's your opinion and mindset, which is your prerogative. But I think calling a bunch of people "willfully ignorant" is pretty harsh.

I, in fact have no issue with 16-year old Alphinaud and Alisae. They are npc's and not a playable option. I do not have to worry about walking into a city and find either of them using emotes to facilitate erp scenarios. The same goes fro the vast portion of main characters, male and female in the entire Final Fantasy series. The willfully ignorant statement was meant to be harsh, and i stand by it.



The example i used earlier is in my opinion is very close to a true representation of an in game model of the proposed "cute" variant of Viera. The kind of discussion this brings is well documented, while many can argue even bad publicity is good publicity i would not agree.

I hope they both get added honestly, just feels like they're taking their sweet time with that suit so were likely to get a new race first lol. Crossing my fingers for the fellas and for viera!

I agree, emphatically. However my input to them has often gone unanswered or rebuked with "She's my daughter, i can dress her how i want!" , "She wants to do it!" and "It's not your business what my child wears!". I consider myself lucky to only run into them a few times in my life, and mostly tend to stay away from them when possible. Only speaking to them due to weather conditions and a lack of a jacket in that one occurrence.

Consideration is given here in the hopes such a thing is not allowed in this game. I'll not mince words here. ANY depiction of a child in lewd content is reprehensible, disgusting, vulgar, and wrong. If the entire player base can be trusted to agree with such a stance, by all means let them exist.

A fantasy mmo should be a place people can engage with the great and amazing things in their minds, but to the extent that the possibility that child exploitation be a concern? No. Not that far. Their is no benefit, the risk is to great, the issues with censorship, inequality in terms region specific rules with depictions of children in media, the list can and does go on and on.

I like this lore, I love the Dark Knight job. It's story is my favorite. I don't care if my stance is unpopular. There is no need for ANY child races in FFXIV.

I think the best course of action if they were to add Viera as a new race, would be to do something similar to what they did with Hyur (Midlander and Highlander).
