Unless I need soil I just buy gear to exchange for company seals. Seals can then spend on ventures, cordial, dark matter, crafting materials or something to desynthesise for demimateria.

A previous post mentioned using the tomestones to buy shells, which then are used to buy soil. Where do u spend the shells to get soil? And said soil can then directly be sold on the AH? Just a question as I have no idea how this works

You want to buy unidentifiable ore. Not shells. Ore is used to buy grade 3 thanalan topsoil from Bertana in Idyllshire, under the "Uncanny Knickknacks" menu. Shells are used for grade 3 shroud topsoil, which doesn't sell nearly as well because it's used much less often.

Yup I buy the shroud, so I can plant to gather shards, as it hields 100 shards if you use shroud, though thanalan is the best bet to make some gil as it is used for cross breeding or whatever it is called.
