    Glamours made easy - announcement

    https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...d50027664e2e3f

Ok so if I understood this correctly:

-Just as usual, we glam whatever piece of gear we have into any glam we want (I'm guessing with the same restrictions and all :/ )

-This time though, we can save the the whole thing (ensemble) under a plate and there's 10 of them.

    Thing I am confused about

-Is the dresser acting like a universal prism? ( I know they're removing them completely in 4.2)

-Will the glamour plates be available on the go or will we have to use the dresser every time we want to change plates.

    Other notes:
I guess they changed the "commode" to dresser after the brouhaha it caused lol.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

You put stuff in the dresser using prisms, you create a look out of items in your dresser and save it to a plate, applying a plate overwrites the appearance of whatever you're wearing. Plates, as I understand it, can only be applied in towns and presumably housing areas. They say they'll expand it to everywhere eventually.

The existing glamour system still exists separate to this, i.e. you can glamour a piece of armor as something else, then apply a plate over it anyway.

Using this system you can glamour your healing gear to suit your SCH, then use two plates to make WHM and AST look different.

I like it, I want more slots for both storage and plates already, but it's a good start.

From my understanding, glamour prisms are not being removed, but condensed into a single type of prism instead of needing separate ones for clothcraft, armourcraft, goldsmithing, etc.

I'd be interested in knowing how dyes will work with this system. "Converting items into glamours." Will you have to dye before converting? Can dyes somehow magically be applied to the glamours after the fact?

I've looked around but can't find clarification on this. Does the old equipment remain intact if we do the 'convert' to glamour process? What if we want to sell or turn in to gc seals or desynth them? Also spiritbonded equipment for materia.
    • Items converted to glamours can't be used as equipment.

I think one of the translations for the New Years Q&As Yohsi implied that you'd be able to retrieve items from the dresser though what affect this would have on the plate or item hasn't been said yet.

From those Q&As it looks like you can dye an item before you put an item in or you can dye the resulting glamour (so you could use a rare dye once on an item, put it in and have it apply with that colour every time or dye it to suit your taste at a later date once you put it one but that dye would be overwritten if you change the glamour)

Think of it like the gear is converted into its own glamour prism that can be used unlimited times, but renders it unusable. That's my undstanding anyway.

I'm guessing it costs a prism to put something in the wardrobe, once it's stored it can't be worn (obviously,) if you take it back out of storage you can wear it again (although I guess doing that will break any plates you've set up that use said item.)

That's the part I'm looking forward to. I have my healer gear glamoured to the WHM AF3 set because it looks great, but SCH can't wear it at all so it just looks like the base items, and I can't glam a SCH version into something else without overwriting the WHM one.

Being able to fix that will be nice.

I spent so long coming up with looks that work for both DRK/PLD and SMN/RDM that I'm at a bit of a loss what to do with them now we're getting this .
