Well, a different compromise would be not removing arrows, but instead of having a limited number of arrows have them work like an 'accessory' of sort that alters your bow's stats. So they'd end up like an added accessory, that only work for bow-users
The main point in this thread is completely remove of arrows, the main point is not because of the arrows are annoying to have in inventory (with my idea if you want extra dmg, your inventory will pack with the items from ALC anyway, so I think most of you miss the point), but the main point is a new concept type of ARC projectiles, instead of have many various type of arrows with different effect, it ll be 1 type and you can upgrade it and for that I think Magic Arrow

I like this idea where arrows exist outside the normal inventory and then their our quests to expand the amount of stacks you can hold in the quiver. Very cool.
Like your starter quiver can hold six stacks of 999 arrows, and each quest opens up three new slots for more arrow stacks. Might be fun. I for one like how ammo exists, and removing it makes about as much since as an archer punching someone with their fists.

Isn't this boring?
I think different arrows with different effects for different situations is more interesting than one standard universal arrow.
I agree with the magic arrows. But i think the present need to equip arrows should also be available and not removed. Magic arrows could be a different skill or so
I'd rather see arrow quivers remain, in their own separate inventory. Carpenters already got the sh*t end of the stick as far as profit margins go and consumables are always a good way to give steady income. I prefer some realism even though it's a fantasy game.
As far as magic arrows go, I'd rather see it as a collaboration between Archers and Thaumaturges / Black Mages, while still using normal arrows. Similar to Steiner's Sword Magic in FFIX, a BLM (Vivi) would need to be in the party to perform these actions. A good example is also shown in FFXIV's opening movie (3:00 mark).
Hm, I think the best compromise would be perhaps, allow it where there are "Magic Arrows" but it's attached to the bow you are using. Basically said Magic Arrow would act as a last resort when you run out of arrows without knowing it. As it stands now you can hold up to 999 arrows in one stack so I would think the aspect of holding onto that isn't so bad and if I"m not mistaken each CRP synth can make up to 333 at a time.
But basically as mentioned the magic arrows would use MP, so it isn't something that an Archer could fall back on and use all the time it would pretty much be situational where they run out of arrows without knowing but as to still stay useful in the battle, they could expend MP in order to still fight.
In terms of how strong they are I'd say perhaps they would just take the Archer's Bow into the attack equation +1DMG. While sure your dmg would suffer once you run out of arrows at least you'll still be able to fight mid-combat if you forgot to restock.
^This is seriously a very happy medium.

Magic arrows would be awesome too, but that, and normalforce's idea could go hand in hand. Alc makes the magic quiver and it expends MP per shot, but make it's damage change based on INT so you'd have to invest in a set or readjust your stats. I think it is unfair to fully take arrows from carpentry though.
