Speaking from the point of view of someone who wouldn't call herself an "anime fan", shockingly you can appreciate and like the visuals in FFXIV without having to be a big anime fan. You can like the art style and the character designs without *rawring* and XDDDD'ing all the time. You can like the fantasy (which exists in pre-e-e-e-etty much every other "fantasy-based" game out there) without having watched a billion different anime shows, have a bookcase full of manga, or call people "baka" or "sempai!" Liking FFXIV and loving anime don't have to go hand-in-hand. You can like one, or the other, or both. Personally, I've watched some anime in my time, I've read (and owned) a few manga when I was younger, and I enjoy a lot of the anime-esque art styles and manga-esque drawings because I think they're pretty or whimsical, but that shouldn't automatically put me into the category of people who like everything to do with anime/manga, or suggest that I 100% like/agree with everything anime/manga-related that gets posted. I also don't really consider the game itself to be "weeb", but I can see why it would attract those who would be considered "weebs." That's par for the course with this genre/style of game, but that doesn't mean it applies to everyone who participates.
